How-to: Swimmable mermaid tail

See pictures of these in my folder here .This costume is not for everyone. Only intermediate to advanced swimmers should attempt swimming in it, and always have a buddy with you. For those of you who want to know how to swim in it, my Kairi made a swimming tutorial for you. Please practice first and always stay safe.
Lots of requests for this, so here you go.
This took a lot of research online to figure out for myself and I'm sharing it for other fans. xD
The tops are not covered in the tutorial. All I did was take the swimsuit material and cover a bikini top for Kairi, making up my own pattern for it. Sora's is a surfer's rash guard I cut the bottom off, put in elastic, and added the detailing, so when we're next to each other, people can see the similar theme based off their KH2 tops.
Everyone go say hi to my amazing Kairi! She's such a good sport and willing to put up with all my costume crap, and will wear whatever I make her. She needs to get credit for being awesome. ^_^

I've been looking for this tutorial since discovering this trend (im male, but screw that fact) I want to try this out! (ex-swimmer, but shouldn't have a problem)

I personally don't like Lycra - it's harder to work with and maintain. It's also pretty sheer when wet sometimes, so you'd have to use a dark color...
But i don't see why not, really.

Well, monofins don't fit like shoes. Because of the pressure of the water they slip off really easily and are a pain to get back on when wet or while in costume. They have to be unbelievably tight and will be very uncomfortable out of the water and even in the water for a while.
The monofin we got, the Wave which is pictured, is a standard monofin and also the best deal money and quality wise. It only comes in one size (read=tight) But has adjustable straps on the back as well as a quick release when you have to kick free in an emergency.
I don't know how big your feet are or what monofins you've been looking at, but I would suggest the Wave and just adjust the strap to fit unless you have abnormally large feet.

This has kinda inspired me to make a 'how-to swim in the tail' tutorial, considering I've been using dolphin kick since I was about 8- and have ready access to a pool whenever I want. Unfortunately, I need a videographer/photographer (who can hold their breath as long as I can).
Do you think I'm going to get some weird looks from the campus lifeguards if I try it there? I wonder...

yeah! I watched that one too (and her swimming video is amazing). There's about four others with similar directions too. Lots of different ways to make your tail - what I posted is the mix of the way I found easiest (made two tails and figured it out)
The Kairi tail had a pattern that looks like scales that shone when she moved, and it made it look awesome. Mine was just blue with the white streak, so yours should look amazing!
