This is good. How exactly do you know what pixel to fill when dealing with those annoying diagonal lines? What's your technique?

Just kidding. I, umm... I just kind of eyeball it, really. I keep the reference open in another window so I can keep glancing at it.

You don't use layers? First of all, I'm surprised by that.
I mean to ask, what do you do when a line is in the exact position of halfway between two pixels? Do you choose the pixel of what the line was on previous, the pixel of what the line is going to be on, or just fill them both?
