Description Nothing special, just another small castle/keep thingy based on one we built on our family map, it is a bit bigger than the other small keep I designed and is more roomy inside and out.

I was going to have numbered parts but never got around to that, ignore them, everything on that level is cobblestone or stone brick/

No, the bridge is optional for if you wish to add a moat or not.

I just created a new world called Baron's Wedneshill that will one day be a downloadable map & your new prototype house is the spawn house. This fortress will be the 2nd build.

Welp, that's dead. My PC crashed last night. I mean crashed as in Windows is corrupted & won't start back up. At ALL. It installed an update before it shut down & now everything is gone. I tried a bootable flash drive, I tried everything. I can't get my data off the PC. I was up half the night configuring my laptop to take over, but as far as Minecraft goes, that means a brand new world & a brand new start. Not that I mind at all, it's just a minor inconvenience. What I'm going to miss the most is my Excel spreadsheet with formulas & all kinds of data in it that I now need to recreate from scratch & the mass of 1970 Dodge Charger R/T desktop backgrounds I spent over an hour finding & saving yesterday. ::: sigh ::: LOL! Oh well, time for some laptop Minecraft in a brand new world. Have a great Thursday!

Yipe! I hate when a PC crashes. I fortunately have been able to set up 3 that back up each other so now I don't loose much if one goes down, but i know that isn't an option for everyone.Β

For living in a house of geeks, you think I would have backups everywhere ... but nope. We have enough PCs in here that we jokingly call it NORAD. Hubby has server racks in his room & the garage, our son & I have gaming PCs ... it's pretty cool. Other people spend their money on clothes & furniture, we go to Fry's. My PC has always been stable & it just never really occurred to us to back it up. I mean, I use it for gaming & Paint Shop Pro, so it was never a high priority. Crying to hubby that I lost my Minecraft & Sims worlds just doesn't rank high on the scale of loss considering he has customers who can lose their business if their PCs crash. I'm trying to convince him to put the Windows 10 preview on there but he won't do it. LOL! All this because it did an update & then scrambled itself on reboot. Gotta love Windows updates!

No, not really, I hate them with a passion, they have caused us no end of headaches at work. You just got your software to "work with windows" and bang, new patch/update/*BLEEP* and half your code is worthless again....yay...I dread Windows 10 because from what I've seen so far its going to be more of the same. We have brand newΒ  machines still running XP simply because it's easier to lock it down security-wise than it is to re-write a few years worth of test codes.

At home it's a different story, I have one XP machine running as a couple of my favorite editors won't run on 7/8 very well * looking at YOU Migro Graphics Picture Publisher10!!*Β  but all the others are 7 and or 8 and do fine. I did install 2nd backup drives in each though, one thing XP taught me was to NEVER trust windows completely lol!

My husband would be using Windows 3.11 if he could. He doesn't like change. I'm the opposite ... bleeding edge all the way! I Beta test whenever possible. I Beta tested Windows 95 ... they called it "Chicago". To make matters worse, I was running a bulletin board back then & had a heck of a time getting Front Door, BlueWave, FidoNet, & Doors to work with Chicago. I guess I didn't learn my lesson from back then because last year I started running a Minecraft server & the headaches started all over again & I keep having flashbacks to those old BBS days. Every day I find myself asking "what was I thinking?!"

lol! I remember when we went outside to play instead of logging in... it's kinda weird, My kids wouldn't even know what a BBS was without looking it up on the internet, talk about ironic lol!

We were out driving not too long ago & we drove through some small neighborhood that was stuck in a time warp. The kids were out playing in the streets, sitting on the curb talking to their friends ... it looked like a scene from 40 years ago. My son just stared out the window & I swear his only comment at that moment was, "The Internet or power must be out". Since then he hasn't stopped talking about it. He said it was so weird, but it looked really cool. He had never seen that before. He said he wished it was still like that, but admits he'd never pull himself off of the computer to join them. I've tried to explain to him what a BBS was, but that's just too old-timey for him.

i am confused by how this is spaced, such as, what is floor 1/2/3/etc?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ColtCoyote In reply to pecuchoo [2014-01-12 16:24:26 +0000 UTC]

It goes across from top left to bottom right so the base plan is layer 1 then layer 2 next to it then layer 3 below 1 layer 4 below 2 ect. The gatehouse is just top to bottom. I really need to finish these up too when I get the time.

I've been thinking of a slight change in this design where the glostone blocks in level 6 are set into the floor (level 5) instead.
