The gods did, they had to because he committed some kind of atrocity in heaven... I'm still not sure what it was or why he did it but he did something and they locked him in the mountain for 500 year in which he wouldn't age or get hungry or anything... he'd just sit there and look at the world outside

Saiyuki Gaiden actually explains what happened with Goku 500 years ago and it's based in heaven. I don't think it's finished yet though

Yeah... like I think they got up to Vol 5 of Saiyuki Reload, then did vol 1 of Saiyuki Gaiden... (so at this point I thought that there were only going to be 5 volumes of Saiyuki Reload because I hadn't read them all yet) but then they stopped with Gaiden and started working on Reload again...
I think it was a licensing issue or somethin' >.>

So I have no idea really when Gaiden's coming to america... but soon hopefully. haha
