Description
This is an awesome snapping turtle in Shedd Aquarium I watched for like 15 minutes. It's got this crazy gross tongue that looks like worms that it wiggles around waiting for fish to come and get it. It sits perfectly still for freakin' ever waiting for fish. I wanted to see it get one! But I didn't.

I wouldnt want one of these things to bite me, im sure they can bite a huge chunk off mammals in one go.

Although it was so incredibly crowded there that I had to wait 5 minutes to even get up next to the glass, and I had about 20 seconds to snap as many photos as I could before I got pushed out of the way.

I didn't have much time to watch him, I could have stayed there all day.
I went to Chicago with my choir and we were looking around the aquarium for about 10 minutes before singing and impromptu concert in the lobby.

Only 10 minutes? Wow. I don't even remember how many hours I was there for, and I would have stayed longer except they closed.
Pretty sweet place to be for a choir trip though.

Yea, we did go to the dolphin show too though, but yea, only about 10 minutes up by that turtle.
We go on a trip every year, unfortunately I can't afford this year's trip to DC

Ah, shame! The Baltimore Aquarium is out this direction, and the Natural History Museum in DC is phenomenal! (I live about 30 minutes outside of DC, always have.

I've been to DC a lot, another reason I'm not going, I want to give someone else a chance. I have relatives in Baltimore.
The Smithsonian is amazing! I love it there. Last time I was there I was there on Memorial Day, that was an awesome experience for sure.

I LOVE the Shedd Aquarium! I want to go back there someday....maybe this summer. I went there when I was small and got a whale plushie!

The turtle was actually standing upright against the side of the tank. This picture is right side up, he's just sideways!

The face looks almost like an alligator snapping turtle. (They're neat---I took care of one for one winter since my dad brought it to me in the late fall).
I'm amazed at your ability to take a picture through the glass---even when I turn my flash off I never seem to get that good of a quality.

well it was really close to the rotunda, he's in a small tank by himself with a bunch of fishies waiting for their doom.
