Haha I don't think those are supposed to be eyes man XD those are just texture marks on a block. If they were eyes wouldnβt they move around and blink?

I am absolutely addicted to this song and then every time I hear it I see this going through my head.
For a animation made in 3am, this is really good! Very creative with the colored boxes. :]
Great as always.

At the start, I was all "Cool, this is going to be cute! Nothing like your usual stuff," then I was all "HOLY SHITE!"
Awesome! Seriously, the song's stuck in my head so I feel I must listen to it at least once every few minutes. Unfortunately, my Ipod Touch hates flash and won't load it... meaning, I had to find that version on youtube, but I can't help imagining this version over the top of it.
Fantastic work, as always.

Tarboy was more about slaves rising up against their oppressors for revenge. This one is about not being able to escape the structures of society and getting put into a box and you will be HAPPY about it haha.

True. Still, I can't get the song out of my head and I can't wait for the finalized piece (if there's going to be one?). Either way, this video is intense.

Mmm... What can I say, Ms. Gonzalez? I'm an absurdist that "wears the suit." I mean, here I am reading a biography of Alexander Hamilton and his role in establishing the American "System" and thoroughly enjoying it and then I watch this and can't help at wonder at myself for experiencing both. After all, with a name like "The Decembrists" it's hard not to know the political bent of those fellows. [link] What's worse, I kind of respect Tsar Nicholas I!
I guess I can only say that I am a man who enjoys the rule of law and order... Buuut, I carry my own little skepticism of materialism and society inside my "suit." It must be the paradox that absurdism thrives on. I can appreciate the motive for the song and your, as always, charmingly grotesque (no, seriouy, I LOVE that about your work!) surrealism of your animation and art. It's just that I smirk to myself and consider things as not THAT bad. Don't worry, in the world of "ticky-tacky" I'm a dissenter there, too. I'm a man without a country!

Comickpro In reply to CSBernard [2011-02-22 03:34:43 +0000 UTC]
Haha yeah thatβs true, I'm not saying itβs actually this bad! But it was a nice way to comment on the stereotype of the "model citizen" and how the youth are pressured to follow it. You go to school, then college, get a job, have kids, and the process repeats. Obviously we donβt need to follow this model exactly but there is still this stigma about going outside this box model as "rebellious" or a bad life choice. In many suburban areas the whole "nuclear family" motif is not nearly as strong as when this song was conceived in the early 60s to comment of the 50s. But what amazes me is that after +50 years that family model is still the one many people in the US strive for when itβs obviously been a model that's outdated and over-glorified. And considering there are so many people who end up talking jobs that they didnβt really plan on, it can start to feel a little boxing. I donβt mean to throw all doctors, lawyers and business executives under the bus as only "suits" as you put them haha
but the categorized sense of the way our social structure in built is highly judged on your occupation. When you meet a new person, the eventual question will arise, "So what do you do for a living?" and thatβs the box you are thrown intoβ¦ but again thatβs where the iconic notion of the βmodel citizenβ comes around again. Anyways thanks so much for the great comment!
Glad the animation still carried its nice dark surrealism despite the sleep deprivation...actually maybe that helped it out since the idea of reaching the surreal is supposedly through dreams or subconscious bouts of transcendence, right?? XD
