Description I found a better way to scan my work. Turns out some information is lost if you just import it directly through Photoshop.

I finally had some time to work, so I experimented a bit with some techniques I hadn't had a chance to implement in a while. Tried for a thin light coat of fur with the skin visible underneath, transitioning into a thicker pelt...didn't quite land it but I'm happy with the result. Could have pushed the colors a bit further though.

I like this! But what species of squirrel is she, if she IS a squirrel? (I'm guessing she's a squirrel based on the fur colour and her teeth: the canines aren't any larger, and her incisors are still present.)

Your guess is as good as mine. I didn't use reference. I just came upon the form organically. I was just playing with the fur for the most part, didn't even have to mess with anything else.
