Chapter 1 RunningRunning
That's what she remembers. Running from what? Stopping for a second to try to remember why she's running. As the seconds go by, a soft wind blows past her as the leaves of the forest rustled in the wind. Looking up only to find the sun was setting on her newly found setting of a forest. She breathed in the air of the forest, only to find it reeks of a repulsive smell. Covering her nose as fast as she could, it was already too late, as the odor hit all 5 of her senses.
"Death" she said. As the sun set, the girl found the forest was ill with dead leaves and trees that lost their leaves. A chill was in the air that ran up her arms as the feeling of the forest was here to do harm to her.
A shrill shriek came from behind the girl, giving her a start that nearly collapse her to the ground. As she spun around, her hand did it's best to cover her sense of smell, but it was to no avail as the death-like odor pierced through her hand and hit her very sense of smell. In the quickest glance she got, there it was; The owner of the piercing shrill of a sound, a being clouded in dark and glided as the wind.
Dropping her hands to sprint down the forest, she didn't care where she goes, anywhere was better than here. Her heart pounded on her chest as she ran with her might that her legs offered. With the forest feeling as it was out to halt her in her tracks, a root stuck up and caught the foot of the poor girl.
Quick on her feet, she caught herself before she could fall onto the leaves of the ill forest. Continuing to run as fast as possible, the "Thing" chased her. Letting out another shrilling shriek, the creature closed in on the girl.
In the midst of running, the girl's mind wandered on what was chasing her. What did it want? To kill her? Capture her? Torture her? WHAT!? Too busy in her thoughts, reality hit her on the head and skid to the ground. With the cold ground at her back, a thick branch above her, and the smell of death no more, only the smell of metal rusting. She felt something coming from her nose, but another thing was too strong of a attention than what happened to her.
Laying on her back, refusing to move, the screech sounded closer than before. As it drew closer, the girl couldn't move because fear held her frozen. The chilling sound cease, but the dark being didn't cease to approach.
Did it see her? Is it searching for her? Paralyzed by the shear fear that the dark being gave to any within it's domain, it drew close to her. The air grew colder, harder to breath, she tried to hold her breath against betraying where she was.
She heard breathing too. Heavy, raspy, never breaking breathing. Still as the night could be with her body, her eyes did not betray her on what she saw the first time; a dark being that glided over the ground, looking for it's next victim, it's next... Hunt.
As it came closer and closer to the girl, her heart she did her best to silence it's beating in her head. With it couple yards away from her, it shown no sign of stopping. Continuing to approach her, the girl wanted to scream. She refused to make such a sound, what good will it do? Who will save her? It will give the dark one the place where the prey is. Then, the impossible happened.
The being glided over her as the leaves followed it. Stiffened by this hunter's act, the girl held her breath and closed her eyes wishing the being to go away.
If only her voiced didn't meeped. In the corner of her eye, she saw the being turn around slowly and with it's heavy gasping breath, it glided over to where it heard the sound. Searching, as it turned it's head back an forth, till it bent down.
With it close to the girl's face, she couldn't stop shaking. Trying her best to grippen the heart of courage within her chest, the being of darkness was inches in her face. It breathed in the air, searched for it's prey that was close, to the point where it's right in front of it.
After what seemed like days to the girl, was just seconds to the world around her. Up-righting it body and gliding off to search for it's prey, the being left the fear-stilled girl on the ground. After gliding away after some time and distance, the girl breathed in finally. She sat upright in the night's cool air while doing her best not to make the sound of leaves crunching, but there were so many. As the leaves crunched under her palm fear gripped her heart. With the grip on her heart as the sound of the forest told where she was, but nothing came, the being was nowhere to be seen.
Overcome with fatigue, the girl laid her head to rest on the ground that was both inviting to her and her refusing to move from. The cold ground felt like she's been somewhere before, she had not reasons on where she had such a feeling before.
As the night carried on, so did she sleep on. The last words she asked herself were the only ones she regretted, "Where am I?"
