Description

1: There is no reservoir nor organ within Man that Magic resides.
2: Magic cannot be formed by Man, only directed.
3: Magic will only be produced by it's component Aether and nothing more

Put simply, magic is external, with humans directing raw energy into spells of numerous schools. Mana is hard delineated per type, with only lightning mana able to give rise to lightning spells, fire into fire spells and so on. This pushes mages to specialize and more importantly, build up resources before expeditions and projects.

And no implement is the better culmination of centuries of magical advancement than the modern wand. An extension of the body that lets the caster draw their spells into thin air, wands bring more control and variability to spellcraft. Not as capable of raw power as the crude foci and familiars used by ancient shamans, wands instead use quickly reloaded regents to charge spells.
