It had been almost a month since moving in, but Mark still couldn't get used to this huge old house. Unlike his parents, he was not fascinated by its rich history, beautiful facade, or spacious rooms with elegant decoration. For the most part, it was a rather dusty and dilapidated building, filled with an atmosphere of gloom and decay. However, the strange sounds coming from the attic at night were able to interest the bored guy for a while. In a fit of inspiration, he climbed into a dark room to photograph some ghost, but found only tons of junk and mountains of old boxes. No sinister phantoms or cursed books, just a complete disappointment. Among all this mess, the only really remarkable thing turned out to be an old wooden doll with an eerie sparkle in its small glass eyes. In the absence of other valuable finds, the disappointed Mark decided to take it to his room, hoping later to find out about it possible value.

Of course, the guy couldn't have known that in this whole house, only this stupid-looking toy had supernatural properties. It had a cheerful and playful spirit trapped in it, which had been terribly longing for fun over the decades. More than anything, it wanted to find a good friend with whom it could play pranks and frolic all the time. The wooden man immediately fell in love with Mark, he had a big strong body and a wonderful ringing laugh. On the other hand, he was too serious and grown-up: he was constantly preparing for some exams, reading boring books and going on dates. All this could interfere with their future friendship, but fortunately the spirit knew an old and repeatedly proven way to solve this problem…

Late at night, when Mark stayed in his room for a particularly fascinating book, the doll began to act. It crept up to the relaxed guy and suddenly began waving its miniature yo-yo right in front of his face, at the same time whispering some ominous mantra. The already sleepy Mark did not even have time to realize what had happened, instantly succumbing to the alluring beauty of rhythmic swaying and the irresistible power of an otherworldly voice. He promptly fell into a deep hypnotic trance and found himself at the complete disposal of the doll. The mesmerized guy lay soundlessly for a whole hour, continuously watching the movement of the pendulum and dutifully absorbing every word. His muscular body was numb, and his mind underwent an amazing metamorphosis. A long-formed personality suddenly became incredibly fluid and malleable, and thoughts and experiences, which now seemed so alien and strange, mixed into some kind of unspeakable mess. Only now did Mark finally realize the meaninglessness of his former life and the blatant inadequacy of his interests. He no longer needed dry facts and boring figures, the only thing really worth thinking about was the constant games with his precious friend. Resolutely throwing away the stupid book, the guy began to mindlessly squeal and roll on the floor because it was a lot of fun. Mark spent the rest of the night fooling around for the joy of the spirit, until he passed out on the carpet right in the middle of the room…

Since then, Mark's life has become so wonderful! Filled with endless joy and great meaning. Of course, there were some troubles in it. For example, a strict college teacher who swore at him all the time because of recent papers written with hundreds of spelling mistakes and having completely incoherent content. And this nasty girl was constantly talking about all sorts of boredom and demanding some kind of touchy-feely thing! But Mark could take it all, because he knew that at night he would be free again and finally be able to play with his new best friend…
