looks a bit like a tribute to the greek story of the inventor daedalus (however you spell it ) the maker of the infamous labirinth. i dont know the whole legend, but i know that he was trapped in a tower and made a pair of wings to escape. i think they failed at some point, but im not sure. but it still makes an awesome picture.

Actually, that's exactly what I was thinking of, but I could have sworn he had a different name. Thanks to reading Percy Jackson, I can remember the story. I don't think the Labyrinth was part of the same story, but he and his son (or was it his nephew?) were trapped in a prison or something, and he built wings for them to fly out. I think the kid's name was Icarus actually, because I remember thinking "So THAT'S why the game Pit came from was called Kid Icarus!" XD Anyway, Daedalus warned him not to fly too high or the sun would melt the wax holding the feathers together and the wings would fall apart. Unfortunately, he did so anyway, and fell to his death, while Daedalus flew to safety mourning the loss.

lol i got the story from percy jackson too not sure how reliable that is but im pretty sure ive heard about a similar story somewhere else.
