Folks like gijinka, right?? And of kid’s shows, right?? Right???
Well, I was talking about the Backyardigans with my friends yesterday, how it’s a very cute show that I enjoyed it a bit for a while, and I decided to personify the characters!
I’m not so sure of Austin’s design, tho. I feels like it either needs more purple or he should have darker skin… oh well. If anyone wants to try these designs or draw mine and modify them, go ahead!

The faces,the shading, the pen-strokes ... all jibe with Sendak's style.

But the colors of my piece are so saturated! Sendak's work has such characteristic hatching and pale colors, I'm shocked to hear such. Comparing to the following piece, my drawing and his style are nothing alike: flavorwire.files.wordpress.com…

Thank you!!!! She is the only one with marks on her skin, so I figured that would be a good way to keep the design as close to the original while still taking some freedoms.
