Early Triassic
Thanks to the counterbalance afforded by the elongated body and the adaptations for centaurism, a group of centaurid opabinids have developed larger and heavier pseudojaws. The first pair of arms, on the other hand, has been greatly reduced and now is only used to hold food to the mouth. This has resulted in the improvement of the mouth's mechanisms and the reduction of the crop.

Most other centaurs in this era are following the opposite evolutionary trend: Their first pair of legs is large, strong and specialized, while the pseudojaw has been reduced.

This animal is a medium-sized ambush predator that grabs and wrestles down prey with its hypertrophied pseudojaw. So far the lineage has been very successful and are already diversifying into other hunting stretegies and prey sizes.
