Description
700 million years after being seeded with the finest selection of critters Early Devonian Earth had to offer, Antaeus (The bryantolepis-seeded planet) has gone back to being a dead world. Most of its surface got slagged by the energy released from the hellish rain of Heracles' fragments, and the original atmosphere was blown into space when its large and unusually metallic core fell almost in one piece (A fragment can be seen here).
A new atmosphere, very hot and toxic, is quickly accumulating.
The impacts were so powerful a humungous quantity of material got ejected into orbit and now it forms a beautiful -but ephemeral- ring around the ruined planet.
It is likely at least some fragments will eventually end up in interstellar space. Some of them probably carry endolithic bacteria. Who knows, perhaps some day a new world will be seeded with these scant remains of Antaeus' once great biosphere...
