Nothings wrong with the hitTest.
As for pointing at the mouse. It's easier to dodge things like you make yourself smaller (right side up or upside down not sideways)

You got that ugly bounding box on there still. Try making three, one in the head, one on the feet, one in the middle.
And maybe, because it's hard to use the cursor to rotate. Make A D to rotate instead.
