I went back to this one eliminating the extended cousins branch. While Sterling isn't in the family tree that's explained later in that he wasn't born into the family but found and claimed as their own (he would be under Isaac and Anna above the twins). He learns at some point (how early I'm still debating, but like the idea The CIA reveals it) he isn't biologically related to his childhood family and then at some point his mother reveals she and Isaac found him in an alley where several people were killed and were afraid he would be mistreated if they handed him over so they made up her having a secret pregnancy to explain the child appearing. Most of the men in the family serve in The Imperial Navy making jobs working with Rebels far less black and white for Sterling as Imperial soldiers aren't faceless masses to him. Maria still has a twin sister Sophia Geppetto who isn't in this version (nor are her descendants).
