The Lore :

-The Maneki or also known as Maneki Neko is the name for this good fortune giving cat species with a twist. Instead of it's cute and normal position as the fortune bringing statue, here it is lively. With that said, it can have two forms, ie : living or revert to it's statue state and by it's side is it's forever partner/familiar the Gourde. For the Maneki, it's purpose is to bring fortune to it's owner but, fortune can come in more ways than one and with each cat, they all hold different aspects in the fortune they bring.

-The Gourdes play a very important part because they indicate the fortune that is to be brought to that owner and lend a helping hand to the Maneki in providing this blessing. On their back, they carry a gourd (hence the name) that holds the 'Dust of Blessings'. This cleanses the air of bad tidings and welcomes in the positive energy to settle around the area and it's owner. Normally it is only needed once to do it's job but due to the beauty of seeing the sparkly dust float, you'll see the Maneki and Gourde 'bless' the area more than once.
Although the familiars may seem to hold the same purpose, their 'type' will show the fortune a Maneki will provide you most:

Calico: Traditional color combination, considered to be the luckiest
White: Happiness, purity, and positive things to come
Gold: Wealth and prosperity
Black: Wards off evil spirits
Red: Success in love and relationships
Green/Jade: Good health
-Now as you may have noticed, there is gold on the Maneki. The three main areas you will find gold are at the back heading towards it's hind legs, it's ears adorned with golden jewelry, and above it's head where 3 pieces of gold will float (think of sims and the green jewel). Gold is the symbol for lavishness, the perfect gift for people of high status and you as the owner, are of high status! Do not fret if you're Maneki doesn't have more than the gold it already comes with because it doesn't make the creature any less of value when providing the fortune to you!
You may have also noticed that the species has a piece of fabric flowing from behind it's ear. This is attached to the ear with a small black pin and is also the alternate form of a Talisman (when not in statue form). Each Talisman will have a message on the end and it's hidden powers will be explained more later on~ For now, know that they do have a significance. They will indicate the class your Maneki is, and there are three.

  2 Talisman : Magician

  1 Talisman on the Left Side: Combatant

1 Talisman on the Right Side: Treasurer

   No Talisman: Non-Combatant
