Something had changed about the man in the tangerine suit. But for the woodpeckers, their birdhouse was just as they had remembered him. Routine washes away the inaccuracies.

so here we are!! Months down the line from when I originally started this piece,, I present him finished!! perhaps the most colourful painting I’ve done to date,, not to mention the most orange..

admittedly I was a bit mixed on this one but I find that I’m growing to enjoy how different it is from some of my other works,, it relies more on outlines in places and, though it touches on similar symbols, it has a different feeling to it I think,, I found by the end I was just having fun experimenting with coloured pencils and bolder orange outlines,, I don’t usually let myself loose like that but!! It’s got a fun look to it..

learning from this and my previous piece w spooky ingo, I think working in fewer layers and making bolder decisions earlier would be good for me,, In general I should put less pressure on myself to make a big glamorous piece every time I use watercolour and just do whatever I want to in the moment, be it a simple portrait or just to note an idea,, I dunno!!

I’m looking forward to doing more things in watercolour !! but for the time being I hope you like my weird looking guy!! ily!! <3
