Government of Ordered Earthen Democracies (G.O.E.D.) Marines | 7th Marine Regiment, Gamma Company | Year 2341 | Second Marauder Crisis | Mars, Mawrth Vallis City | 9:04 A.M. H.S.T.

On September 22nd 2341, an unknown space vessel blocked G.O.E.D. scanners and picked up ramming speed towards the G.O.E.D. homeplanet of Mars. Trajectory simulations of the ship made an educated guess that there were no specific target(s). The ship in question, while not scannable at the time, was noted to be that of a defensive frigate generally meant to protect larger more vulnerable ships. Not only that but the design of said frigate was comparable to those used by Follen, though they deny of having any ships within or around G.O.E.D. territory. As the ship sped towards the red planet it's defensive batteries kicked on and began deterring any intercepting ship, torpedoes, or missiles.

The frigate ended up crashing over Aram Dorsum, luckily kicking its thrusters into overdrive before hitting the ground therefore avoiding a blast comparable to a nuclear missile not from just the landing but also from the ships ulitis core. For those not knowing of ulitis, just know that a pebble sized bit of ulitis has the explosive force of your average fragmentation grenade and becomes increasingly more stable the more mass it has, it is a weird energy source and if the ship had crashed full-force then the ulitis and its casing would have shattered causing an explosion comparable to that of a 20 megaton bomb. Anyways, after the frigate "landed" G.O.E.D. defense forces surrounded the ship only to be continually deterred by its surprisingly still functioning guns. Though the ships guns were the least of their worries as multiple ports on the ship soon began opening and marauders began pouring out in droves. Along with the guns distracting the hovering ships above, the marauders swiftly overran the insignificant ground forces at the time.

Unlike Old Earth, these were new forms of marauders. Those of different species whom had not yet encountered the marauder bio virus from infested oort clouds. Word had been kept down about the marauders by the military for only around a day until they lost control over the situation at Aram Dorsum and marauders attacked in force on the cities of both Mawrth Vallis and Oxia Planum. What followed was only described as absolute horror comparable, no even worse to that of Old Earth. When the marauder virus attacked Earth centuries back, humanity at least had the time to begin creating evacuation ships and the marauders never got any larger than that of an elephant, albeit a very dangerous elephant. Barely a week into the attack, marauders were comparable to small buildings from the biomass they "picked up" on the way. The largest problem with marauders is that once a swarm is at a decent size, they just rush into defenses knowing they can take the damage due to the limited amount of important organs that a normal person or animal should have to even stay alive but mostly just from their numbers alone.

The panic caused by the marauders shook the whole human population on the red planet. Those who never were religious began praying and those who happened to be religious began cursing their god(s) for allowing this to happen again. Humans near the affected area or were in their path in general began migrating away causing even more panic and some logistical issues for the government itself. On one hand those migrating had the right idea in some ways, didn't help though when the marauders reached the crowded highways. As the word spread outside the planet and even outside the territory humanity as a whole had seemed to go silent for a moment. Silent in hopes and fear.
