When and how did you get started in Cosplay?

I started cosplaying in 2012 after attending several anime festivals in my city and meeting other cosplayers. I have long wanted to try myself in cosplay, and the girls invited me to join their team.

What was your first Cosplay?

My first cosplay was a fem version of Spock from Star Trek TOS. This was a rare exception because I really don't like unofficial fem versions.

What was the most difficult character?

The hardest character for me was Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony because of the wings, face painting and uncomfortable heels.

What characters are you planning and type of character are you drawn to?

I love warriors, sorceresses and comic book superheroines. I love to cosplay strong women. Now I am planning to make a cosplay of Sister Repentia from Warhammer 40k, KDA Evelynn from League of Legends and Triss Merigold from The Witcher 3.

What is your process when starting from the beginning with a new cosplay?

At first I just like the character, then I appreciate the complexity of her costume. If I have the resources to create it, then I get to work. I order a wig and do additional styling if required. If I need a craft, then I order it from the masters or ask my friends to help me if the craft is not difficult. In fact, I am not very good at working with my hands and most often I can only modify the purchased base. I also order fabric suits from craftsmen and modify them if required.

Are there any helpful hints in sewing, costume design or any other aspects of your cosplay that you discovered in doing your creations?

I do not do especially difficult things with my own hands, so I cannot advise much from my own experience. Read and watch tutorials by experienced cosplayers, choose good and proven materials and don't do everything at the last moment if you need cosplay by a certain date!

Do you have a preferred brand of makeup in your cosplay? And if so why?

I prefer the NYX brand because it is the best that can be found in stores in my country, and I do not like ordering cosmetics on the Internet without being able to try them in advance on my skin.

What are you listening to?

I listen to rock, metal, folk, folk rock, darkwave, rave.

Favorite Movies?

I like superhero movies from Marvel, thrillers, horrors, science fiction, fantasy.

Favorite Animes?

Sailor Moon, Slayers, Bleach, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Fullmetal Alchemist, Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi.

Favorite TV Shows?

Arrow, Flash, Gotham, Game of Thrones. I don't watch a lot of TV shows, I prefer cartoons.

Is there a scene from a anime, cartoon, movie or tv show that left a big impression on you and what was it?

There are a lot of such moments, because I am very impressionable, especially in terms of visuals and interesting plot twists. XD

Books?

The Vampire Chronicles, The Chronicles of Amber, The Lord of the Rings, Stephen King's books, Arkady and Boris Strugatsky’s books.

Games?

Diablo 2, Sacred, League of Legends, Diablo 3, Plants vs. Zombies, World of Warcraft, Nier: Automata, Witcher 3.

Beverage?

Tea, cola, martini, whiskey cola.

Fast Food/ Junk Food of choice?

Pizza, fries, instant noodles.

Candy bar?

I don’t like sweets, because I constantly suffer from dental problems.

Favorite Breakfast cereal?

I don't like cereal, I prefer a varied breakfast.

Is there something not going on in the cosplay world that you would want to see or is there something you would want to change?

I wish people would better treat cosplay as a hobby and not think of cosplayers as freaks. Also at the business level, I would like companies to work more with cosplayers as influencers.

What was your favorite toy growing up?

Plush lion Simba.

Who is your biggest character crush and why?

I have had several of these crashes, among which I cannot choose one. XD First of all, this is Sailor Neptune, she embodies what I would like to be - calm, elegant, graceful, intelligent, beautiful lady and creative person. Secondly, this is Mary Jane Watson, she is my ideal appearance, and I really like the fact that in the world of aliens, magicians and superheroes, an ordinary person can be a bright and strong character.

You enter a warehouse. There is little light, but you are able to find your way around. The sound of music draws you to a corner of the warehouse. There are FIVE GHOUL CLOWNS, playing a dancing video game. They have razor sharp teeth and scary weapons. Magic cannot affect them; they sense your presence and turn facing you. They run to you to attack. Time to fight! What character would you want to be to defeat them and how would you handle the situation?

I would like to be Loki and defeat them with my cunning and sense of humor. XD

If you had to be chained with a character for one year, what would be the character and what would you do?

It seems to me that if I was chained to Barbara Gordon, we would find a common language with her.

You can have dinner with your favorite character. And at this dinner you may ask one question. Who would be the character and what would be your one question?

I'd like to have lunch with Nightwing and ask him if it's true that red-haired girls are the hottest.

What's number 1 on your bucket list? (Something you want to do before you leave the planet).

I want to become a famous cosplay model.

What advice would you give to people getting started in Cosplay?

Try not to tie your self-esteem to your cosplay success. Nowadays, due to algorithms, the number of likes does not at all reflect how good your cosplay really is. And don't forget that you yourself are good regardless of cosplay!
