Description This great piece of work is another Transformers AU I’ve came up recently and was brought to life by warahi. Who is now taking commissions, so if you’re curious about that go chat with him on it.

Anyway this AU is yet another what if scenario. This time of the Constructicons, who for me always had an interesting concept and backstory in the franchise. In this AU, as you can see for yourself, is a what if scenario of them being Autobots.

Here’s the backstory for this AU. But if you don’t want to read it just check out the abridged version on the pic itself.

The story begins millions of years ago on Cybertron (obviously). Cybertronian’s of this AU are “born” in a rather unique fashion, as seen in the 2019 IDW comics. Transformers are brought into the world from the well of Allsparks itself, each one born a unique and interesting individual with their own equally unique talent or so and so.

For the Constructicons, their forging had them revolve around construction (duh).

It became pretty clear very quickly that these Six bots had an exceptional talent for building and fixing things. Each one a expert in their craft and a unique individual in their own right.

Scrapper being their Forman and designer, and a brilliant project engineer.

Bonecrusher demolishes scrap and rubble so they may start fresh.

Scavenger is a miner at heart and can sniff out just about anything useful.

Mixmaster is an amazing materials fabricator.

Hook has incredible skill at being a exceptional engineer.

And Long Haul tracks inventory and assists in transporting supplies.

So as such, after a previous war based event that took place centuries ago, the appropriately named Constructicons were tasked in creating and rebuilding Cybertron back to its former state. And probed they were more than capable of taking care of the job.

As was seen in their fist task, rebuilding the city of Iacon.

The reconstruction of Iacon was but one of many steps of rebuilding Cybertron after a previous war (no not that one). Many areas of the planet got smashed as a result so building Iacon back up again would be a great start in the reconstruction project.

And the Constructicons were given the role of being the ones to rebuild the planet. They were young and freshly forged, but they were more than up to the task regardless.

The project itself was governed by three individuals.

Wheeljack, Termagax, and Prowl.

If you wondering why Prowl well there’s two reasons. The first being that security detail for this project was absolutely important, I cannot even STRESS how important it is. So naturally Prowl was the one who was given the role of security detail. He was more than qualified considering his natural skill at his job. Furthermore his ability to lead and orderly personality meshed well with the construction project.

The second is something no one knew at the time.

Anyway, it became pretty clear that reconstruction would work out pretty well. Prowl was given the role to help out with pointing out important buildings that needed to be fixed or new ones that needed to be rebuilt. Wheeljack located assisted in resource management and fabrication. And Termagax help manage everything and looked over important details that need to be made known.

And the Constructicons built up the city foundation by foundation with such skill and finesse that no one could believe it at first.

Seriously they were FREAKISHLY good at what they did. It’s not even funny.

Anyway, everything looked like nothing eventful would happen other than the reconstruction of Iacon. The first of many cities on the planet, among other things.

But then, IT was found.

Was it by pure chance, or a quirk of fate perhaps? No one could say for sure other than IT was found by Scavenger one day while the Constructicons were out gathering resources, and the excavator just happen to find something buried in the ground that the team quickly dig up. And once they brought it to the others, Termagax was the one who told them what it was.

The Enigma of Combination.

Termagax went on to explain how the artifact was one of the thirteen great artifacts that were thought to be lost to the world long ago, and was called the Enigma due to that’s what it was. An enigma.

Then she went on to explain how it worked and what it does to those who use it. Uniting different Cybertronians together into a single individual. Both in body, mind, and spark. Creating something entirely new as a result.

And being interested in the idea of what it does, she suggested to Scrapper to use it on him and his team when she learned that it was apparently connecting them together just by being near them all. And after some talk to talk with each other, the six bots decided to use its power on themselves.

For the most part, Termagax was interested in seeing the result. Wheeljack was concerned considering they were experimenting on the Constructicons with the power of the artifact. And Prowl was more concerned what the result would be, as there was no telling what the United form of the construction bots would be like.

Needless to say the result was something truly unique, awe inspiring, and terrifyingly powerful beyond anything they knew.

And in time, this result of six individuals would be given only a single name.

DEVASTATOR.

The Gestalt was something truly unique in both body and mind. He was IMMENSELY powerful and strong, and could use all the skills, techniques, and abilities of his six individual components. Add that to gigantic size and he was something truly special to behold.

Just one thing though. He was very concerning in the brain department.

From what the Constructicons explained, every time they turn into Devastator, it always felt like there was this 7th conciseness that was trying to take over and shove them all down.

Prowl took this as an issue naturally. It was something he could NOT ignore.

It became pretty clear to him that Devastator was more than just the six of them out together. Whatever this new individual was he was as said, an individual. A signaler individual who was all of them fully merged into one, not just the six of them merged together and trying to move as a unit.

And as such, if left unchecked they/he could become something that would be more of a threat than a boon for Cybertron.

So as such, he took it upon himself to help train them, and the Gestalt himself, up on controlling themselves. Understanding the importance of this task, Wheeljack and Termagax agreed to let him do it.

Prowl wouldn’t give them room to argue about it.

From here, The Constructicons went throughout rigorous training in mental capacity under Prowl’s supervision. He was admittedly a strict yet fair teacher, and the construction workers grew to like him over time once they learned of the good bot underneath his tough armored exterior.

Regardless though it became apparent to them that in order to fully form Devastator, they would need to let him out of his shackles.

Basically let him take over.

They tested how this would work at first away from the construction sight. Needless to say That interacting with Devastator was a challenge from the get-go. But in time they made it work. And in this full uniting of their minds, Devastator was truly born from the depths of their existences.

But as the Constructicons put their new gigantic form to work properly, none of them knew how big a role they were going to play in the long run. No idea at all.

Because if there’s one thing that became quickly apparent when it came to Devastator was two separate things.

First: much like his separate components, he could build and fox just about anything he got his hands on.

Secondly: living up to his eventual name, he was DEVASTATINGLY powerful. There didn’t seem to be anything he could... well, devastate.

More importantly, Prowl’s teachings made the Constructicons learn that whatever the “7th Conciseness” was, they were constantly trying to make their way to the surface. Granted the Constructicons were taught to go with the behemoth instead of fighting it, but for the longest while it was always a 50/50 things. No one in that colossal body was fully in control.

This had one time led to a bit of a issue when the conciseness took over for a brief moment and SMASHED a building to rubble with only a single blow from his mighty fist.

But what was truly eye catching was the fact that it, or rather “He”, was smiling at the result.

It was honestly concerning.

Fortunately Prowl managed to help them organize their thoughts enough to help maintain some kind of control or order when combined. And after hard work and effort in rebuilding not just Iacon, but DOZENS of other cities over the course of time, it finally came a day when the Constructicons were given the task to create the greatest monument to Cybertron and it’s people.

Crystal City.

The city would be a testimony to all of Cybertron, it’s people, and it’s culture. A beautiful city that would dazzle like crystal in the light and would be more advanced than anything ever constructed.

Needless to say the honor of building the city made the Constructicons swell with pride.

It took time. But eventually Crystal City was finally finished. And it was EVERYTHING the Constructicons dreamed it would be and then some. Truly it was their finest work.

It would also be around this time that they would meet the legendary Omega Supreme.

The guardian robot was an interesting sort to say the least. Compared to most other Transformers he was rather robotic in terms of personality. But they surprisingly made friends with the Guardian despite that. Terns Out Omega could make a great conversationalist. Not to mention having someone keep an eye on Crystal City had its own benefits as well.

So it would seem that things would be okay for a long while.

Unfortunately Megatron had other plans.

For you see, there was actually a bit of something about the Enigma that should be made known.

Devastator wasn’t the first Gestalt made from it.

Yes. For there was another. One who brings nothing but dread and terror just from mere thought. Or the slightest utter of his name. A creature that should NEVER come into existence.

And it’s name is... MONSTRUCTOR.

Beneath the gibbous moons of Cybertron, in the great dark spaces of the sunless void, far beyond the realms of man's childish reachings, does the great dread Monstructor have his origin. A being that seems instinct with some fearful and unnatural malignancy, his form like a robot and a deep great shadow at once, his very presence is said to drain light and life from the world around him, feeding his ancient hunger. A palpable cloak of dread follows his movements, and the very sight of his summoning and formation has driven sane beings beyond the bounds of madness. All living things, mechanical or organic, decay and die at his merest touch. Monstructor is the channel for an evil beyond the darkest Decepticon imagination, and far beyond the puerile concerns of the insignificant beings who make up his composite form. He longs for the day, foretold in darkness, when he shall be split asunder no longer, and will rise one final time, free to travel the stars, from world to world, extinguishing all life sparks, ravening for delight.

You see Megatron wanted the Pretender Monsters, the Decepticons who made up the dread beast, to join his forces. By doing so, they alongside their combined form, would have all the destruction and death they could possibly desire.

And for their first test on the job: Destroy Crystal City.

Omega Supreme never saw it coming. Monstructor came down upon him and the city like a tidal wave of death and despair. And the. Proceed to take him down and damage him horribly. But the beast didn’t kill him, oh no, he wanted him alive so he could see him destroy Crystal City. And live with the despair of being unable to protect it.

When the Constructicons got whiny of what happened they rushed down their faster than they had ever moved before. But by the time they got down there they were already too late to do anything to help out. Crystal City was utterly destroyed.

But Omega was still very much alive, and they wasted no time in fixing him.

When they learned of what happened, they wanted payback. BADLY. But they needed to come up with a plan to destroy Monstructor, the creature was far to dangerous to be left to roam the world for a moment longer. So after coming up with a good strategy, they and Omega Supreme went into action.

But first they needed to do one thing they never done before.

For the longest time they never fully gave control over to Devastator. But now, the shackles were coming off entirely, and now the Goliath was gonna he free. Concerns were made, but it was still technically them in control. It was just this time the conscience was now completely unified together into one singular being.

And so, when the Constructicons United after finding the Monster, the battle was ON.

It was one of the greatest struggles ever seen on Cybertron. Omega and Devastator fought with everything they had against the horror that was Monstructor. The ground shook from the fighting and it was said you could hear the shockwaves of their hits from the other side of the planet.

And it raged on for hours on end, until eventually the two got Monstructor to where they wanted him to be.

A Space Bridge.

Forcing the Monster into it by tricking him inside during the fighting, the Constructicons separated and force the Space Bridge to launch the monster to places unknown. Banishing him to the farthest reaches of space, hopefully for the rest of time.

And like that, it was over. For now.

Because it became very clear that Megatron was the one who started a all this. Especially when he declared war on Cybertron.

And the Constructicons, after seeing the evil he would commit, knew what they had to do.

Word of the Autobots rising up against the evil of the Decepticons made itself know to the construction workers. And needless to say after looking around and meeting the legendary Optimus Prime himself in person, they asked if he had room for 7 more.

There reasoning was very simple. They were created by the core of Cybertron to rebuild it. To repair the damage that was done to it. All Megatron was doing was destroying it and threatening everything they knew. So joining the Autobots was the genial idea on how to remedy the situation.

And thus the Construcons became Autobots. Along with their powerful form, the Mighty Devastator.
