Description I've been reading comics for a long time but amazingly I only read 'Watchmen' this past summer while I was on holiday. I know it's practically a cliche but it was just incredible stuff, I couldn't put it down. I saw the movie a couple of years ago but really enjoyed it but the comic itself is just on another level. Huge kudos to Messrs Moore and Gibbons ... fun fact, my wife used to drink at Alan Moore's pub and met him a few times. Apparently he's a nice guy.

In this pic, Rorschach has tracked down Derf, the leader of the perps responsible for the death of Hollis Mason. Things ain't looking up for ol' Derf...

Great drawing! Also Rorschach is a great character. I like the 'heroes' with more darkness and depth

If you can afford it buy β€˜Watching the Watchmen’ by the great Dave Gibbons (I bought it before one of the UK recessions). A professional doing things like page breakdowns - but then again he was earning from it. Apparently Alan Moore disowned Watchmen and League of Gentleman films - I think they’re great with great CGI. But I do think Ron Ely as Doc Savage will not be beaten, I was awaiting Part 2.

Ha, I never saw Doc Savage but when I was a kid, Ron Ely WAS Tarzan! Agreed about the Watchmen movie but I've never seen League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen ... I haven't heard good things. Moore's disowned any Hollywood adaptations of his work but I thought V For Vendetta was done well and From Hell was OK. For all his gruff reputation, Alan Moore in real life is supposedly a gentleman ... my wife spent her teens in Northampton and Moore went to the same pub as her.

I've been a fan for 30 years since i was 4/5 when i read these comics and they moved me and bought the graphic novel at age 10 as it was one of my first purchases, i even enjoyed the movie as i got the ultimate edition blu-ray cut.

He is one of the best DC characters ever.

I only read it for the first time last year but enjoyed it so much, I decided to get straight onto this pic! I liked the movie too but I know a lot of diehard Watchmen fans don't. Alan Moore certainly didn't, by all accounts!

Well Ultimate Cut is the best of the cuts and i got that on blu-ray.

Well Alan Moore refused to see movies based on his works you know.

Do you like Frank Miller as well?

I do but I hate to say, I've never read any of the Sin City comics. I LOVED the movies though. I also loved Frank Miller's work on Daredevil and I reckon the Netflix show has nailed the Miller vibe.

This is really good. I love the story too. My only suggestion would be to add more depth.

Good job - very Watchmen feel.

(The Watchmen is possibly one of the greatest things ever written in any format)

Thanks! I didn't get the creases on Rorschach's jacket quite how I'd have liked but I lucked out with the contrast between the brick wall and the two guys.

The creases look fine to me and the contract from the wall works really well.

Nitpicks aside, I'm legitimately really pleased with this one. I worked really hard on the poses and not having to draw a face for Rorschach helped! I could tell at the pencilling stage that this would be above average for me, as long as I didn't stuff up the inks. The big debate was whether to go for thicker markers for the shadow but it seems to have worked OK. I honestly think the Pylea page a couple of weeks back is the best comic page I've done yet and I think this could be my best comic-style artwork so far period ... or it's up there, at least.

It's just not often I come up with two pieces I'm satisfied with so close together. My work's bound to suck for the next year now!

Lol, not at all.Β  I'm sure if you look back at your earlier work, you'll notice a fair amount of improvement.

Hope so, I'd worry if it was the other way round! It's always a good ego boost to go back and look at your earlier stuff ... I'm sure it's the same with you.
