Why is he your favorite villain? (He's mine too.) And to ConstantM0tion, great job! Love this rendition.

Well first of all Ultron is just awesome. He has a very personal connection to the Avengers, unlike other villains, being that he was originally created by Hank Pym. I love how he is an AI, not someone with selfish desires and a craving for revenge and power. Ultron's personality is all coding, he was just so intelligent that he took his sole purpose a little too seriously, and thought, hey mankind wouldn't have problems if they just stopped existing haha! Secondly, Ultron is just so interesting in terms of ability and design and he's pretty much the sum of the Avengers' faults all wrapped up in one, so with that he has lingered and survived throughout many years in the MU. Finally, just look at him! He is sooo incredibly amazing!

Hm. I don't think I've ever replied this long, but I love talking about this stuff and if you get bored, uninterested or if your eyes get tired, you can just stop reading.
I agree with most of the reasons you mentioned, and it was kind of like that, at least in a certain way, he was "innocent" and just wanted to do his mission, but on the other hand, it was like something else. Like he says in the movie, "I've moved beyond your "mission."" One of the reasons I like him is because, like you said, he has a personal connection to the Avengers and seems to be all their glaring imperfections wrapped into one. Which makes me wonder about your other comment, that Ultron is just "AI" and doesn't have personal revenge... How do you correlate the two? I mean what do you mean by saying he has a personal connection with Avengers but not personal revenge? Why is he personal in one area but then not in another?
There is another strange thing. While it did feel like they were trying to sell Ultron as "purely" AI, just logic driven and determined to rid the human race because he thinks that's the best option, and that everybody would understand if they only understood what evolution really means... I mean, (not that you're wrong, I'm just thinking), but to me it doesn't make sense that he would be purely detached and non-vengeful have no selfish desires and at the same time say something in the trailer like "I'm gonna show you something beautiful. People... screaming... for mercy!" Why would people screaming for mercy be beautiful to someone who doesn't have revenge or feel real anger? And in the end of the movie, "Don't you see the beauty of it? You rise, only to fall." The fact that he really seems to linger in enjoyment over people's suffering make me feel that this is not just his "mission" and that it's not just a matter of the "best logical option." It feels like he hates us.
We don't get to see that in the movie because they didn't spend enough time on Ultron, but Vision says in the end, "Ultron is in pain." Why would he be in pain if it's just AI? "But that pain will roll over the world [and he must be stopped]."
Another tricky bit comes when he is alone with Black Widow: "I'd like to show you something. I (pause) have no one else." As if he feels alone and that, "Oh poor Ultron," he has no one to share his feelings with. Sad. Whimper whimper. But then in the very next moment, he "kills" his old "self" whilst saying, "Like the humans say, What doesn't kill you *PUNCH!!!* MAKES ME STRONGER!!!"
Two more things from what Captain America said. (I loved this movie!) God's "Righteous" Man said near the end: "It's not just about whether we beat him. It's about whether he's right." Hm. So not only does Ultron want to wipe them out of existence, he also wants to harm their reputation. Badly. He wants to prove they're wrong. How does a robot know the difference between right and wrong? So if he can't kill them, at least he wants everyone to look down on them and hate them as much as he does. That's another thing: the way he addresses them with such contempt. And not only that, he speaks slowly, leisurely, as if he's lingering as long as he can in his sarcasm and feeling of power over them:
"Uuggggh! Captain America, God's "Righteous" Man... pretending you could live without a war."
Thor: "If it is peace you want, let us keep it."
Ultron: "I think you confuse peace with quiet."
Ironm: "Ya huh. What's the vibranium for?"
Ultron: "I'm glad you asked that because I would like to take this time to explain my evil plan." *ZIIIIIIIIIIING!*
The last thing is what Cap remarked when the group said "He wants us dead." He corrected them, "He didn't say "kill," he said "extinct."" Yes. Extinct is different than dead. Especially to someone like Ultron, who, in the comics, comes back to life more frequently than any other being. And it's not just the words or that evolution makes sense and it's just the next stage, it's the feelings behind the words. They also said he was "angry" at first, then in the end "afraid" of Vision. Why would someone who has all these emotions not also have revenge? Just wondering!
But to me, these reasons alone speak louder than any other villain or hero combined, as far as movies and comic books go. No other villain I've known is so callously witty. And no other villain seems to enjoy others' pain so much! (Not a good thing but makes for a good villain.)

Oh, that's another reason I just thought: He was trying to make Black Widow feel sympathy for him, but then in the next moment terrified her, nearly to death. And he liked it. And threatening the way he did against that guy with the tattoo on his neck. And the way he felt threatened and angry when he said, "Your one of them [Tony's bots]."
I'm just wondering, what is the reason for feeling threatened or having the desire to threaten if he's just a logical robot...?
Ugh. I'm so glad they made this movie. It has really helped me understand a lot of things, even if unintentionally.

Ha! Kinda funny, I just thought of one more thing, not to overload thee...
Ultron said: "You take away my world, I'll ruin yours."
Hm...
You take away my world...

I'll ruin yours...

Welcome! Ultron... There's no one quite like him. As the Vision said, "He is... unique."
