Let's just say that Jane Darling from Peter Pan II, and Shanti from the Jungle Book II, though she appeared briefly in the first movie at the ending, had a conversation that they felt more like hypocrites through out the sequels.

Infact, Jane was wondering that the writers could've kept some of the plot-lines of the sequel but just had some changes like if Hook had kidnapped the real Wendy and it would be up to Jane to save her mother, thus had that same experience the plot lines of her experience in Neverland and finally expect the believe in fairies before Tink's light will go out.

As for Shanti, she did appear briefly in the very ending of the first movie, but during the sequel, they did like having her a major role, but sort of gave her the wrong personality. Granted she should've been a better character if she explained why she was such a worrying, and frustrating character who made Mowgli feel a bit miserable at the beginning of the sequel. In fact, if they added in two original characters, who would be a white boy and a white girl from the British Empire who have stumbled to the village and have met all of Mowgli's jungle friends, it would've helped the story line and give Shanti better development, after all, it did remind me of Marlin when he over reacts when it comes to danger or worrying for somebody's safety too often, which seemed unfair and made them feel more miserable if couldn't see the truth of what was really going on instead of being so judgemental, heck even everybody in the village should've gotten to know Mowgli's animal friends as well.
