Very interesting, as well as other concepts there. Worth to keep an eye on them when I resume full activities on the site. Keep up with the good work!

Thank you for +all+ the great comments and faves, Wolf!
This is an odd shot, and is still my most heavily retouched photo. Here is another variation, and significantly less maniped one. Actually looking back over the Caesar's casino parking garage in Atlantic City (about an hour's drive from where I live).

Thanks for faving, hon. Sorry I was gonna get back to you about this awhile ago, and was just about to now. The basic pallete replacement effect was actually in another image viewer, Irfanview. Then *lots* of little retouches in PS to reinforce the shadows and light sides from the flash, as I wanted to give it the look of those colorized and tinted B&W creepy atomic test films from the 50s and 60s we've all come to know and love. It's an odd shot, I know, but I kinda like the original, which you see in "Beacon", but with some additional PS lighting f/x.
No, havn't tried that blur/layer trick you mentioned, but sounds like it might be excellent for getting that "Vaseline lens" optical softening effect. For reducing camera sensor noise when you're shooting higher ISO, long shutter in low light, my personal favorite is NeatImage. [link]

I didn't know you could "outsource" your dirty photos like a laundroMat.
That's freakin weird.
Well, try it... the b&w blur thing.
Wash it through all the variations:
ya know, screen, luminations, overlay, etc. to see what you like.
I'm finding more and more short cuts every day.
I mess with manips the entire time I'm not working
and the practise is paying off.
(Not saying my shit is getting BETTER, but
the more I learn the less problems I have reaching a desired effect.
How much time do you devote to PhotoShot play?
It'd be nice to tutor each other on IM to share knowledges and tricks live.

Uhh... I don't quite get your meaning on two points here, maybe I don't describe things quite accurately enough; wwwhat's freakin weird? There's nothing here I'm describing that's uncommon, hardware or software wise. Do you mean the NeatImage? For your level of experience now, you havn't heard of these? Nothing weird about them, alot of pro, am, and art photographers use them, and there are other good ones like Noise Ninja. They won't magically clean up everything in your photos, they're just really well designed algorithmic filters for reducing digital sensor noise when you need or want to shoot clean. Can also sometimes be used as an effect when set to extremes. You may need them if you shoot commercial, or wanna shoot "slick" (hey- before you balk , nothin wrong with shootin slick once in awhile). Sometimes your reactions surprise me alittle. I also don't know why you use the word 'outsource' (I'm NOT jumpin down your throat here, hon, just trying to figure your use of words) you're not hiring someone else to do it, just either opening a file in another program, like you've already done, or you can use it as a plugin that integrates right into PS.
___________
No, you are better, AND getting better. Your edits/manips are more frequently more faceted than mine, especially with layers and your freehand goodies. I'm tending to do more with just the basic surface; more broad stroke f/x and filters, lassoing selections and direct 'ixel picking' to get what I (usually) want.
And alot of serendipity -I'm that way with music, too. Drawing isn't as much a priority {yet} as I havn't bought a tablet yet. Graphics aren't either right now, maybe that's because I grew up around so much graphics and layout.
So I'z just come over sit back `n watch what you do, `kay?

Yeah, man. Sit and watch, it's cool with me
Okay, so you don't pay to have a pic cleaning service
vacuum your messies.
I got that, but... no in my experience
I have never seen this NeatImage thing before.
You know me, I could give a fish fling for software.
I don't look for it. I don't research it.
I just end up with it and keep assuming the world is still flat.
AND ya know I love doing things the HARD way.
Well, not really, but it doesn't bother me to work around things.
The worse the photo - the more noise and bullshit -
the harder I have to work to fix the shit with my bare hands and
with no formal teachings or purposeful digging around for short cuts.
I'd rather be left to sink or swim without help.
Doesn't mean I'm against the NeatImage thing.
I'm just like, "whuuuu??"
and that's really, literally, all I'm sayin'
I dig it, actually.
uh... I was gonna say something else, but I forgot what it was.
OH! Thanks for the compliments!
Means a lot. My fever for this manip trip is getting hotter.
It's addictive. Glad it's producing some positive response.
That's an added benefit to this voyage, for sure!

Neat and weird. Wanna know have you tried using a duplicate layer and G-Blurring the copy with an overlay effect at 50%?
It's a noise reducer that doesn't always pay off, but that's my two cents.
Meanwhile, I dig this!
