Erika led her speckled mare over to the warm up arena while Avery tagged along. The older girl having offered to give her a leg up since the mounting block was in high demand. In hindsight, they should have brought one from their home stables.
"This is your first show with us, isn't it?" Avery asked softly, trying to make some small talk.
"Yeah, it's my first show since coming to Canada. Got some rust to knock off." Erika said lightly after she got ito the saddle with Avery's help. The blonde gave Erika a big smile and a pat on the thigh. "You'll do great, I'm sure of it." Avery tried to give her some encouragement, even if Erika didn't ask for.
"Thanks." Erika gave a tight smile back before walking Candy on to begin their warm up. She knew that they were well prepared for the show today because they'd been doing lessons and training to drill everything in. Not a moment was wasted. The only unknown was who she was competiting against.
Her parents bought Candy for her when she was 15 years old and over the last 3 years they'd got use to each other habits. The good ones and the bad. It had only been about 6 months since she arrived in Canada, but she spent most of that time recovering from the move and adjusting to all the changes. She hadn't left many friends behind since she focused mostly on Candy, her grades, and her part-time job at the time. Time is money, and should be spent carefully on things that matter. She didn't have high expectations but she ended up at a stables that surrounded her in kind people. Avery always lending her a hand, though it got a bit annoying because she didn't always need it. And then Abigail would give her dressage lessons without charge sometimes. However, she immediately kicked things off with Sam . Sam has his sights set on racing, but Erika is trying to convert him over to eventing. One of these days, she'd get him going with her to one of these shows. Out of all of it, the most surprising change was the fact that she found herself making time to specifically go trail riding with Sam and Sunshine . The pair of them basically became inseparable, which has lend to Erika occasionally help Sam with barn chores once in awhile.
There has been so much growth in her life since and with some work, she'll see some more in her riding. Focusing back in on her task, Erika moved Candy up into a working trot. Doing a 20 meter circle to take up little space in a busy warm up arena. She also did some cantering, and changed directions before she gave Candy a small break. Her dressage course was already memorized and they were ready to go. (480 wc)

Abigail was already mounted on Poe as they waited by the dressage b arena's entrance. She gave Erika a small smile and a congrats on her dressage run when the brunette exited. Avery was standing off to the side, spectating, or rather "cheering for her friends" as she'd put it. In Abby's opinion, she should be warming up with Noel, but Avery insists on not missing her friends compete. Abigail wouldn't trade Avery for the world, but sometimes she wished that her friend would put herself first.
Letting out a sigh to expel her slight frustrated with Avery, she knew she needed to not be distracted when it was her turn.
Poe shifted and turned to give his rider a nudge with his muzzle, checking in with her.
Abby laughed quietly and leaned down to meet the young stud's inquiring nose. Giving him a gentle pet. "Hey, bud. I know you've been standing her patiently. I'll give you all the pets after." She stated before standing back up in the saddle.
He'd come a long way since the stables bought the colt. Abigail's goal has been to work with him, take him to futurity championship in a years time, and improve his breed grading. The day of his inspection did not go as well as she'd hoped, and she knew that Poe can do better. Over the last 4 years, her and Nick have shared little bets and dares back and forth over the course of training Rava and Poe. Both of them were gunning for the futurity title. She'd never been the gambling type, thankfully everything as been pretty tame with Nick so far. And since her, Nick, and Avery all ended up with foals from the same year, they've often trained together. It made sense because they were all coming and going from the stables around the same times. Up until this year, she'd been mostly just focsued on futurity. It was primarily Avery's idea that she took a little break and enter Pemberley's frozen farmyard frolic. It may have been something fun for Avery to do, but regardless of what show it was, Abigail just wanted to do well. If she could take Poe to a grand prix level, she'd be living the dream.
Abigail's thoughts got derailed when Avery materialized beside her suddenly. She spoke in that soft comforting tone that a parent would probably use to their kid when they're worried. "Hey, you doing alright? You look concerned?"
"Hm? Oh uh.. yeah." Abigail spoke softly and looked down at her hands. They were holding the reins a little stiffly while resting on Poe's withers. Avery's hand came into view as she gently grabbed one of her hands.
"Relax, and just be in the present." Avery reminded in a quite voice.
Abby had confided in her friend before, concerning a lot of her worries over Poe and her own horsehshipman skills. She wanted to go places, but she was worried that she wouldn't be able to take Poe all the way. Creating all her own stress and useless burdens to carry. Abigail let out a slow breath, loosening her posture, and letting the concerns over her and Poe's future go..for now. "Thanks, Avery"
"You're welcome," Avery spoke as another rider left the arena, "now go be a superstar!"
Abigail chuckled and rolled her eyes playfully and within the next few seconds, her and Poe were called into the arena. (573 wc)

Avery cheered on for Abigail and Erika, and did not regret her decision a single bit. She admired both Abigail and Erika in some ways. They both took competing seriously and strived to place in shows. They're both determined and strong-willed with defined goals. The only thing Avery has planned in her life includes working with Maas to help the stud with his timidness, her job as a life-guard, and messing around with Noel. The cremello AQH has craved out a special little place in her heart. Meanwhile Noel, also held near and dear to avery's heart, has a busymind that needs frequent stimulation. Other than that, Avery would enter in the odd show. Of course, she trains and does her best to place, but the other girls are so much more into it. And it's a little off-putting when you're pretty much the only one that likes to goof around. Maybe she could entice everyone into stopping on the way back to Briar Lake Stables for a trail ride?
With Abigail's course coming to a close, Avery knew she'd need to get over to Noel asap. The only downside of staying to cheer for her friends was that she was left with a very limited window to warm up. She already had Noel all tacked up and waiting beforehand, so she wasn't necessarily scrambling to get ready. All she needed was to grab her helmet and then collect Noel from where she left the mare with the jolly ball.
Noel whinnied when she noticed Avery approaching, standing tall with her ears forwards and nostrils flared. Avery got the feeling that this wasn't about to be a relaxing warm up. Clicking the buckle closed to secure her helmet on her head, she greeted Noel with a little rub on the roan mare's forehead. Noel leaned her head into it and closed her eyes briefly to enjoy it, relaxing into it. However, the minute Avery took the reins and began to lead her off to the arena, she was prancing with her head high and her eyes taking in all the sights.
Avery didn't really know what to expect from Noel since it was the first time she took the roan mare to a show or even a long distance travel. She mounted up with the aid of a feed bucket and began walking around the whole warm up arena to let Noel see everything first. It didn't start getting a little worrisome until they started troting and cantering. One end of the arena was down-right scary for Noel, so she forced the mare to work through it and invetisgate the spooky invisible monsters. The whole ordeal ended up taking any remaining time left for Noel to stop being bothered by all the commotion in the arena as well as getting her spooks out. Avery had hope though! She could feel some of Noel's confidence reutrning in her forward walk as they approached dressage b arena. It was just in time too, since their names were called out just as they got over to the entrance. Time to get their head in the game. Avery gathered herself up into a more proper seat before entering the arena and starting their course. Excitement coursing through her at the prospect of putting in a good showing and being able to let Noel show off her floaty movement. (564 wc)
