AU where Vlad actually dies in the hospital, and becomes full ghost. Imagine he didn’t hate Jack right away, but did later on when he found out that Jack and Maddie, not only never visited him in the hospital, but ran off together and started a family while he was dying in the hospital because of what they did. Imagine it’s not just Jack he hates, but Maddie too. Imagine the hatred only started shortly after Danny was born, and Vlad found the Fentons. Imagine the pain, the betrayal of learning his best friends are happily married, and have 2 children, and are living what is basically their dream life, despite unintentionally murdering Vlad in college. Imagine that’s the reason Vlad turns evil, and wants to take Danny away from Jack and Maddie; to make them feel the pain he felt. Now imagine Vlad stays with Danny, from the time he’s an infant; being his ghostly friend, and when Danny falls through the ghost portal and becomes half-ghost, he finally fully understands exactly what Vlad is, but not who he is. So he asks his Parents about ‘Vlad Masters’, and they tell him about a friend who died in college, and that’s all they say because they know they killed Vlad, they didn’t mean to, but they did, so they lie, because they’re afraid of what Danny will think. Danny knows something’s up, so he asks Vlad, and Vlad, who wouldn’t talk about it unless specifically asked, tells Danny exactly how he died. And Danny just…. Breaks; his parents killed a man, and hid it from him, then lied to his face about it, and if they ever found out about Plasmius, they’d probably kill him again. And Danny does join Vlad, because he’s not even sure who his parents are anymore, and he’s scared, and the only person he feels he can trust is Vlad, because, now, he knows what his parents are capable of, and their blunders are no longer funny, because their first blunder costed their best friend his life 20 years ago, and costed Danny half of his.
