To be able to get any use from this tutorial, you must know how to draw emotes.
Here are some great tutorials for that:

The file is quite large (5MB) , so it might take a while to load or lag like there's no tomorrow. Just be patient

I'm not sure how useful this actually is I'm hoping that this will be helpful to those of you who want to start animating your emotes
This is my first tutorial, so any kind of feedback would be much appreciated ^^ Also, if you make any animations using this tutorial, I would very much like to see them :>

Most of this stuff I knew/used already, but the idea of the face and hands on an elastic string is fantastic! Thank you very much for sharing!

Also, would it be a problem if I borrowed a few other aspects of your emotes? Specifically, I'm eyeing the super-long mouth of Green.

You're more than welcome!

I must be more dense than usual then, since I don't browse dA like I used to. In that case, I don't feel at all guilty for stealing it.

CookiemagiK In reply to go050296 [2008-08-07 16:13:29 +0000 UTC]

You have to save it as an animated gif

go050296 In reply to CookiemagiK [2008-08-07 18:36:07 +0000 UTC]

Um.... still stupid here.....

How you save it as animated?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

CookiemagiK In reply to go050296 [2008-08-07 19:02:49 +0000 UTC]

Just choose animated gif instead of gif
If you don't find it, see if there is something called "export". Try using that instead of "save".

Awesome tutorial!

But i'm still one step away from making a complete one due to this problem: why is it that when i make a change (like brush) to one frame, it applies to all others? how do i fix this?

I'd be glad if you could help.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CookiemagiK In reply to graffyty [2008-07-27 10:21:24 +0000 UTC]

It depends on what program you are using, but it seems as though you have the layer (that you are brushing) set to be permanent. This means that the layer is unable to be different from frame to frame, so no matter what frame you change it on the layer will change on all frames. Try and see if you can turn of anything that says "permanent" or "share across frames" or something like that ^^
I'm sure there's something for that in the help files
Hope that help :>

Oops...forgot to mention i'm using photoshop cs3. I know there must be something like that, but i just have no idea where to find it. Could you give me some tips on where to find it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CookiemagiK In reply to graffyty [2008-07-28 09:59:45 +0000 UTC]

I've never used Photoshop cs3 to make emotes, so I don't know. Sorry

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CookiemagiK In reply to hhgm [2008-07-26 20:52:46 +0000 UTC]

You can't. Once you save it as a gif, all the layers will be merged into 1 layer
