Description
Here a meme that I did featuring my top ten choices of video game characters that I would love to see playable in "Super Smash Bros.". Because I wasn't too busy doing anything else at the time, I decided to take a short break from posting my new cartoon artwork by working on another meme for fun after checking out similar memes done by other people on DeviantArt as well as a poll question done by my good friend TUFFAgentShepherd . In my previous journal entry that I posted, I was able to mention that I had formatted my Nintendo 2DS so that I can link my Nintendo Network account from my Nintendo Wii U, and I'm also accepting friend invites from anyone else who has a WiiU with an online account, or even to re-add the 3DS Friend Codes from my friends whose numbers I was able to save.MY NEW 3DS FRIEND CODE: 4614 - 0116 - 5483
Other than that, I'd also like to let everyone know that I have a copy of "Super Smash Bros." for my Wii U, which I was able to play after receiving my copy in the mail about a month ago, and I've practically enjoyed playing it as much as my copy of the 3DS version of the game. In case anyone is curious to know how I've been doing in the game so far, I managed to unlock all eight of the hidden characters in the WiiU version of the game (Falco, Dr. Mario, Wario, Lucina, Duck Hunt, Mr. Game & Watch, Dark Pit, and R.O.B.), and I could not resist unlocking all four currently available DLC characters (Mewtwo, Lucas, Roy, and Ryu) after adding some money to my Nintendo eShop account as well. After being able to try out each of the characters in either version of the game, I was thinking to myself about which other characters I would love to see playable in the future, especially since there are so many awesome characters in the Nintendo universe as well as third-party series that actually deserve to be playable in one of the greatest fighting game franchises of all time. And so, I was able to narrow it down to ten characters that I find suitable for being playable in the Smash Bros. games while also including a couple of characters from third-party titles. To make the list fair, I've decided to include only characters from video games that were released on at least one Nintendo game console, which also excludes characters from games released only for PlayStation and/or Xbox as well as characters that never originated from a video game series (including Goku from "Dragon Ball Z", an obvious character that everyone keeps talking about for some reason). Thank you, and enjoy!
MY TOP 10 PLAYABLE CHARACTER CHOICES IN SUPER SMASH BROS.
#10 - Zoroark ("Pokémon" series) - When I was trying to decide which Pokémon characters I would love to see added to the playable character roster in the Smash Bros. games, I was able to notice that most of them were of Pokémon that originated from Red/Blue Version on the Game Boy, not that I have a problem with it because of how much I still enjoy playing the original games, but I think Nintendo would have featured a variety of Pokémon from the other games to be playable instead of just the ones appearing out of the Pokéballs that are picked up and thrown. After giving some thought, I've decided that I want to see Zoroark become playable after its appearance in Black/White Version, and it seems to have quite a few fans over time as well. The way I see it, Zoroark's special moves would be kind of similar to that of Lucario's, in which they would be based on its Dark-type moves from the Pokémon games, and its Final Smash would actually be kind of like the attack it uses when it comes out of the Pokéball in both versions of the game.
#9 - King Hippo ("Punch-Out!!" series) - After learning about Little Mac being a playable character in both versions of "Super Smash Bros." when they came out last year, I was actually quite excited to play as him because of how much I've enjoyed playing the "Punch-Out!!" games over the years. Even though Glass Joe would have been a suitable choice for a playable character, I've decided to go with King Hippo because of him being more recognizable for his fighting techinues as well as his weakness (namely, his big fat belly). As for his Final Smash, I'm guessing he would transform into a large pixelated version of himself from the NES games surrounding his opponent and attacking him/her with enough punches to cause massive damage and send them flying off-screen.
#8 - Dixie Kong ("Donkey Kong Country" series) - Because of Diddy Kong being a playing character since his appearance in "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" on the Nintendo Wii, I couldn't help but think that Dixie would also be suitable for a playable character, especially after her recent appearance in the WiiU title "Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze". The way I see it, Dixie would be able to use her trademark Ponytail Twirl from the DKC games for some of her special attacks, and she'd probably be able to use the Feather Bow that was originally used by her sister Tiny Kong from "Donkey Kong 64". As for her Final Smash, I'm guessing it would involve her playing a rock guitar just like in her victory pose from DKC2, and it would also be kind of similar to either Donkey Kong's Final Smash and/or the attack used by the Barbara Bat Assist Trophy.
#7 - Black Shadow ("F-Zero" series) - As you'd probably already know, Captain Falcon is the only F-Zero character to appear as a playable character in the Smash Bros. games, and Samurai Goroh was only able to make an appearance as an Assist Trophy as well. Even though Blood Falcon would have been a perfect candidate because of him being a genetic clone of Captain Falcon himself, I was able to notice that Blood Falcon's outfit was already used as one of Captain Falcon's alternate colors, so I decided to choose his arch-enemy, Black Shadow, as a more suitable character choice. Now, I am actually aware that Ganondorf is a character whose moves are similar to that of Captain Falcon's, which are slower but more powerful, so I'm guessing that Black Shadow would have some slightly different moves that would be a bit more advanced to pull off, and his Final Smash would even involve the use of his racing machine, the Black Bull, as a way of beating his opponents as well.
#6 - Tom Nook ("Animal Crossing" series) - Because the "Animal Crossing" series is known for its unique cast of appealing characters (most of which happen to be animals), it was kind of hard for me to decide which character would be suitable as a playable character to accompany Villager. And so, I decided to go with Tom Nook because of him being a major character in all the games of the series, and he would have special attacks that are quite similar to that of Villager; Not to mention that his alternate colors would also involve the different outfits that he was seen wearing each time he upgrades his shop in most of the games. Speaking of which, his Final Smash would also be done very similarly to that of Villager's, except it would involve his shop that would expand causing more damage to his opponents before sending them flying off-screen.
#5 - Protoman ("Mega Man" series) - Ever since Nintendo was able to reveal that Mega Man would appear as a playable character in the new Smash Bros. games for both 3DS and WiiU, I was quite excited about wanting to play as the Blue Bomber, and I've also decided that his brother Protoman would seem worthy of being playable as well. Because they're both robots made by the same creator, Protoman would have his own set of special attacks that based on Robot Master skills from the various Mega Man games over the years, most notably "Mega Man 9" and "Mega Man 10". As for his Final Smash, he would send out a bunch of random robot characters to attack his opponents, which would also be a slight nod to "Mega Man 5" on the NES, in which Protoman was believed to be working for Dr. Wily, but was then revealed to be an imposter after the real Protoman showed up to help Mega Man.
#4 - Amy Rose ("Sonic The Hedgehog" series) - As everyone may probably already know by now, Amy Rose has always been one of my favorite Sonic characters of all time, and I think it's kind of obvious that I'd pick her as a choice for a playable character in the Smash Bros. games for sure. Even though most die-hard Sonic fans would prefer Shadow The Hedgehog as an ideal choice despite the fact he's already appeared as an Assist Trophy in all the recent games to come out in the series, Amy would actually be more original to play as, especially since her special attacks would even be based on some of the moves she was seen using in games like "Sonic Advance" and/or "Sonic Battle". As for her Final Smash, I'm guessing it would be kind of similar to Ike's Final Smash, except it would involve her Piko Piko Hammer that she'd use to pound her opponents into commission.
#3 - Blaziken ("Pokémon" series) - As I was able to mention about Zoroark being a playable character, I think Nintendo should have included more Pokémon characters to be playable that did not just originate from Red/Blue Version on the Game Boy, especially since there wasn't any such playable characters from Ruby/Sapphire Version on the Game Boy Advance as well. After being able to play my copy of "Pokémon Y" some time ago, I was able to train a Blaziken that I had on my team (which I still do after leveling it up from a Torchic that I recieved as a special promo), and I realized that it seemed to be quite suitable as a playable character in the Smash Bros. games, especially because its special attacks would be a unique combination of Fire and Fighting-type attacks that it learns from the games, which would also make it a sort of rival to Charizard. As for its Final Smash, it would be able to transform into its Mega Evolution form just like with Charizard and Lucario in the new games, and its attacks would then become really strong and powerful as well.
#2 - Ridley ("Metroid" series) - Because of Samus being the only character from the "Metroid" series to be playable (not counting Zero Suit Samus, who is now a seperate character in both versions of the new games), one such character that I think deserved to be playable would be none other than Ridley. One reason that I think Ridley would be perfect as a playable character in the Smash Bros. games is because of him being a major character who played a vital role in just about every game of "Metroid" that have come out over the years, and he would even have a unique set of special attacks based on his attacks from the games he appeared in. Even though I am aware that Ridley appears as an enemy character in one of the playable stages found in the WiiU version of the game, the playable character version of him would be re-designed to look more like his counterparts from the 2D games, with the Meta Ridley form also appearing as an alternate color. As for his Final Smash, he would be able to use his wings to fly right into his opponents, which would also be kind of similar to the Legendary Air Machine power-up after you collect all three pieces.
#1 - Krystal ("Star Fox" series) - I'm sure that many die-hard Star Fox fans were kind of expecting me to feature this character on my list, but I definitely agree with everyone else when I say that Krystal is a character who definitely deserves to be playable in Smash Bros. Aside from the fact that she's quite sexy and attractive for an anthro vixen, Krystal would have a unique set of special attacks that she'd use, which would actually be based on those of Zero Suit Samus, and her alternate colors would even be based on the different outfits that she was seen wearing since her debut in "Star Fox Adventures". As for her Final Smash, she would be seen leaping into one of the vehicles she was seen piloting in "Star Fox Command", which she'd use a cursor to aim at her opponents and blast them off-screen.

Yeah, that's a very good point, and I also happen to be a fan of those characters you were able to mention as well.

And I see great ideas for Final Smashes for some of them. Ex: Eggman would target and fire at opponents with the Eclipse Cannon from Sonic Adventure 2, or Bass would transform into Super Bass like in later Mega Man games.

Thank you for saying so, and it could be a possibility that Nintendo would be able to add new characters thanks to DLC and updates for the game.

I personally disagree with a good chunk of these choices not because they're horrible, but because I feel there are certain characters, like Shovel Knight and Plague Knight of the Shovel Knight series, Shantae of the Shantae series, and the Inklings from Splatoon would be a lot of fun to play as. Whipping up the competition as the Half-Genie, blowing everything up with bombs as Plague Knight, and/or splattering the arena with ink as an Inkling is what I would love to do.

Late 90s and early Millennium. I think it would be awesome if Nintendo did include these particular characters as a representation of the N-indie scene (though the Inklings are original Nintendo IP). I am a fan of some older games, but mainly games I owned when I was a kid like Army Men: Sarge's Heroes, Soul Calibur II (Hell, it would be awesome if a fighter from there could get on Sm4sh, come to think of it...), and Donkey Kong 64 to name a few. But I'm not above playing SNES games and NES games.

For Blaziken, I totally went for the same thing, Blaziken would totally be a great fighter for smash! I kinda compared his moves to the ones in Tekken games.

Well, thank you for saying so, and I guess that would make sense because of the Tekken game that was released on the WiiU as well.

I used to be a hardcore Ridley supporter, but after Sakarai pretty much told everyone that Ridley can't be in, I've stopped hoping. Nonetheless, he'd make for a great character. I also agree that there needs to be another Metroid character.
I agree on most of those characters (like Black Shadow), and I especially agree on Krystal! Too bad that her chances were the most high during the time Brawl was coming out. You never know, though.

You're welcome. I would really like to see Krystal get in. It's unfortunate that Nintendo seems to be trying to forget she even exists, considering the most recent games are remakes of Star Fox 64. :/

I think you mean the last game "Star Fox 64 3D", which I probably won't add to my 3DS collection because I actually have a Nintendo 2DS, which plays those games in 2D only.

Are you sure? I was actually hoping that the new Star Fox game for the WiiU would actually be a continuation of the series after the events of "Star Fox Command" on the Nintendo DS, which was still a great game to play nonetheless.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
KingShovelton In reply to CoolCSD1986 [2015-10-08 17:41:29 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, the next game is either a remake or a story that takes place around the 64 era. Either way, we won't be seeing what happened after Assault (which is where I think the series should continue from) or Command (which had way too many bad endings, but it was still a fun game). I think Nintendo themselves aren't sure of what to do with the series ever since Command branched off into various different story lines. That's kind of their own fault.
On the plus side of things, the new game looks like a lot of fun, and Fox and the others are finally furry/fuzzy again, since they've been looking a little plasticity for the past couple of games. lol

CoolCSD1986 In reply to KingShovelton [2015-10-09 17:38:35 +0000 UTC]
I see... Well, in that case, I was really hoping that it would be something even more unique instead of just a re-telling of the series, which also means that Krystal doesn't become part of the team before "Star Fox Assault", in which she was a good addition to the team, especially since a team of all-male heroes can get somewhat dull and monotonous, even if they are anthro animals (not counting the Ninja Turtles, of course). To be perfectly honest, "Star Fox 64" was actually my least favorite game of the series, mainly because of gameplay elements that I found a bit confusing such as not being able to choose which path to follow like in the first game on the SNES, even though the controls were rather tight and responsive for a N64 title. I was, however, able to beat that game at least once, so I probably shouldn't complain about it that much.

The way I see it, Ridley would actually be somewhat suitable as a playable character due to his unique set of moves that he'd pull off, and he would actually be shrunken down to size like Bowser in order for that to work.
