oh, first I did warm up doodles, and used a referance for each pose, until I felt comfortable with drawing skirmishers. then I started with a circle for the head, and lines and circles for the joints, and stuff. first I drew him after adding flesh onto the 'skeleton' and after I drew the body I added the clothes on and such. then I added the feathers and stuff. but I used transparent layers for him. like in order the top layer is lineart, then it goes down to feathers, clothes, skin, head, eye, background. I added the base color and such on each layer below lineart. after I added the selected color to the specified areas, I used the magic wand tool to highlight it for I couldn't go over the edge of the colors. I got a dramatically darker and lighter color and set the airbrush on 30.00 and airbrushed the shadows and then the highlights. what helps me to shade the colors is draw lines in the direction the light is going onto the form. on the underside of the form I added shadows and on top of the form I added highlights. it takes practice though...

After the trolls, who I made go mad, criticised me, my art skill dropped, and now I haven't been able to draw as well as I could.

oh, I'm sorry... don't listen to those jerks. you do have good art, it may not be 100% perfect, but whose is? mine is certainly not! nobody I know has perfect artwork, it's impossible for imperfect humans. sure your art work may have some flaws, but so does mine. EVERYONE has flaws in their artwork, but it doesn't mean people can make fun of others art work. try to stay positive, in this very negative world.

Sure, I certainly agree with you though.
But... my art skill has completely gone recently, and it's not an artist's block.
Now I feel really jealous that everyone else can draw and I could draw.

try warm up drawings and stuff. sometimes if you haven't drawn in a while you can lose your 'touch'. maybe your being too harsh on yourself. I used to be, so I stopped drawing for as while and when I started back up, it was horrid. but if you practice, and you fail, look what you did, think how you can improve, and then redo it.
