Description
Kitty Kat by Tectix on deviantART has this great close up picture of his cat.fav.me/d5g49sr
With permission I made this fractal manipulation of his cat.
GIMP was used to render this creation.
Just recently created a video of the sixty screen shots to process this fractal using OpenShot. Not a speed painting, but might be interesting to someone. dai.ly/x1b7btq

No it is not Fractalius. Fractalius is an Adobe Photoshop plugin, and I use GIMP.
There is a similar plugin for GIMP called Rodilius which is part of the GMIC registry. registry.gimp.org/node/13469
I believe both Fractalius and Rodilius were released in late 2007. Not really to sure, it was a long time ago. They both pretty much do the same thing.

I did a little digging and found that the plugin has its own website. It may have the most updated plugin for GIMP.

I have no problem with sharing my works with others, however the original cat posted at fav.me/d5g49sr is owned by Tectix, so you may need to ask permission from him.
Have a purrfect day.

great work can you make a tutorial how to do this in gimp? I often use gimp, but I don't know how this works... ^^

Thank you.
A tutorial with this image or one of your choosing?
Better yet, I will give you everything you need to make one exactly like this using the original image from Tectix at fav.me/d5g49sr
The cats name which I found out later is Pilchard.
The Kitty Kat, I used GMIC, which can be found here.
gmic.sourceforge.net/gimp.shtm…
The filter used was called Rodilius inside GMIC / Artistic / Rodilius. gmic.sourceforge.net/img/gimp_…
The settings I used for that particular image were 10 10 300 36 Light All. There are many settings to use to change images. I just experiment with them until I get an image I like. The same settings can not be used with all images, as images can be different colors, sizes and other aspects which could change the outcome of the final image.
Here is a good start for you to maximize your GIMP tools and scripts.
GIMP fx foundry can be found here.
gimpfx-foundry.sourceforge.net…
I have been using GIMP for about 23 years. Some images are just trial and error. I have my GIMP settings to have an undo of about 70. It may seem like a lot, but when one is trying so many different things to see what all the tools are capable of, and all the settings associated with it, one tends to undo many steps to start where it last looked good.
Here is many tutorials to get started.

I know some are of Inkscape, and Photoshop, but I have attempted to recreate the same images created with those other applications with a good deal of success.
Good luck, and have some fun...

Well, since the last time I replied to you, I have updated my bookmarks, and I now have a different link. share.xmarks.com/folder/bookma…
The link should provide you with quite a bit of tutorials for GIMP, Photoshop, Inkscape, and others. I do not use anything but GIMP, but I can still follow tutorials from other applications with little difficulty.
Have fun, and stay creative...

Very nice! Very interesting. You did this in GIMP? I didn't know you could do fractals in GIMP. Fav

Thanks, and yes, it was created using GIMP. You can make fractals, fractal flames, map objects, and use scripts which speed up the process of something which normally takes a lot longer if done one step at a time. Making ones own scripts is probably the most helpful when one does the same sequences of patterns.

This is amazing, you can see amazing depth in the drawing with just these lines. Very good interpretation of the original photograph. :> Good work.
