"Steady on, boy." Leon enunciated softly, leaning forward slightly to run his gloved hand smoothly over the bay stallion's neck. The horse, a handsome Hanoverian, responded easily to both his rider's gentle voice and touch and surged forward into a liquid trot that floated the two of them around the arena with ease.

"How's he looking?" Leon laughed over his shoulder as he and the horse jogged passed a young woman sitting on the top rail of the fence. The girl, Noel, nibbled thoughtfully on her lower lip as she studied the two in motion. By the time Leon and the stallion lapped her twice more, she held up a hand to signal them to bring it in.

"I like him," she smiled shyly, combing her fingers through the horse's forelock as it quickly buried its head against her chest, elated to have a moment to stand still and be fussed over.

"Alright then. He moves like a dream, and has a motor on him like no other. So long as you can remind him every now and then that he's supposed to be working, and not playing." he punctuated his sentence with a crooked grin and slipped down from the saddle. With a slick motion of his hand, he lifted his dusty cowboy hat from the fence post and deposited it onto his head.

"Leo and Leon; that may get confusing." Noel mused delicately, slipping down from her perch on the fence to fall into step beside her brother as he led the peppy stallion towards the stable.
