It's a great way to establish a character's personality (show, don't tell)
For example, I can tell this person likes to read, or at least has a job where they're required to do a lot of reading, and that they do hunting (or given that this seems to be a fantasy setting, its their self-defense weapon, there's so many ways to interpret the things you see in art) and that barrel of paper means they're probably working on something, and because of how fancy the room looks (and how its positioned over the rest of the scenery) it can be inferred they're living in a really nice area, like a castle or manor or some other fancy building types.
