“When I was a girl, I was informed by my mother that the eldest of her daughters would succeed her. However, she was an enduring woman, and my eldest sister—weary of the wait—eventually challenged her after some convincing on my part; my eldest sister triumphed as predicted, albeit barely, but the second-born struck her down in her weakened state. I offered my dear sister a drink to celebrate her new position, and she did not rise the following day. It seems my mother was correct, and I am the eldest now.”
— Alaunriia
Alaunriia is an original character from Lorecraft, a fantasy role-play my fellow writers and I have been working on together since early 2017. In terms of lore, plenty is still being developed, but we’ve gotten started on a few entertaining plots regarding the between the gods and their followers. Here is some information below for the curious:
Alaunriia Helvith, High Priestess of V’elddrinssin
The Goddess of Chaos’ most loyal servant, Alaunriia’s cunning has earned her the highest seat in the city of V’elddrinssin, a champion of her almighty mistress, The Serpent Goddess, Chalthrae. Famously cruel, she has orchestrated the assassinations of many of her rivals, going so far as to murder her mother and two older sisters, whom she loathed deeply, to become head of her house. This ruthlessness ensures obedience in her house. When not scheming, she likes to spend her evenings in her private bath house, where Chalthrae allegedly whispers schemes into her ear.
As a sorceress with extraordinary talent in the arcane, Alaunriia has prolonged her life considerably and excels in many schools of magic. While she’s no stranger to the sword, she feels it beneath her to use melee. In fact, her pride won’t even allow her foes the pleasure of dying from her directly, preferring to summon undead to fight on her behalf, only resorting to higher-tier magic with her staff when necessary, her divine spells being the pinnacle of her power.
