(Updating this art with his backstory.)
True Name: Mark Sully
Cold War Veteran: Mark Sully, also known as Warmonger, served as a soldier during the later years of the Cold War, specifically in the early 1980s. He participated in intense covert operations and combat missions during this tumultuous period of history, including the Battle of Leningrad, where he and his unit faced off against hostile forces in the midst of the Cold War tensions.
Superhuman Abilities: Mark Sully possesses enhanced physical attributes, the result of classified military experiments designed to create a new breed of super-soldiers. His abilities include enhanced strength, agility, durability, and reflexes.
Skilled Fighter: Due to his extensive combat experience as a soldier and enhanced physical abilities, Warmonger is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant and marksman. He excels in both close-quarters combat and long-range engagements, often utilizing firearms and explosives in his vigilantism.
Patriotic Costume: Warmonger's costume reflects a patriotic theme, featuring a distinctive red, white, and blue color scheme. He dons a hood and body armor for added protection and has a white crosshair symbol painted over his helmet, signifying his lethal precision in combat.
Tragic Past: Mark Sully's childhood was marked by tragedy when his mother, a struggling prostitute, abandoned him at a young age. This traumatic event had a profound impact on his personality, leading him down a dark path. He became cruel and sadistic, harboring a deep-seated hatred for criminals and those who exploited the vulnerable.
Attempt at Normalcy: In an attempt to escape his violent past, Warmonger settled down and married a woman he deeply cared for. He sought to lead a calm, normal life far removed from the battlefield. However, tragedy struck once again when his wife was brutally murdered, shattering his newfound peace. Fueled by grief and a desire for vengeance, he returned to his old ways as Warmonger, a relentless anti-hero who metes out brutal justice to those he deems deserving of punishment.
Warmonger's backstory is marked by a blend of patriotism, tragedy, and a relentless pursuit of justice tainted by brutality. His experiences in the Cold War and the personal losses he endured have shaped him into a formidable, morally ambiguous figure who will stop at nothing to achieve his version of justice.

That seems to be the common takeaway, though he's intended to be a patriotic-styled Punisher. lol

I meant the character himself, not his costume. What more is the Punisher's costume than a painted-on symbol on combat gear? Red Hood's most iconic look doesn't even have a hood, and the armored patriotic look that seems to be synonymous with Captain America also exists in that of The Comedian.

It's like Bucky Barnes wanted to continue being Captain America without the responsibility of being Captain America like he wanted to be a more lethal Cap.

Bucky was one of the inspirations, certainly.
