I like reflections, as can be seen in my Reflection gallery: [link]
So here is another drawing to satisfy my mirror fetish

You did a great job with her pose and the dress. And, yes, I like that the mirror is included so we can see not only her back but the front also.

Love the pose.. and most certainly that feisty look too.
Beautifully done.

Thank you. The colouring worked out nicely on this one.

You could just rename it Blue Twins and
everyone would stop bugging ya about the
glitches in the reflection.
BTW, there's no way that the eyes of both the
original and the reflected girl can both be
looking directly at the camera.

It's a fun piece, and I can certainly relate
to the frustration of trying to get all
the reflected angles right.

Wait, that wasn't an error! That was on purpose!

Top of the head in the mirror doesn't seem right. Try building a skull around that face and then look how hair should work.

Also, the angle of the reflection seems a bit wonky. That leg.

Still, pretty nice and surely cute.

Good work.

Yes, there are several things wrong with the reflection as lots of people made a joy in pointing out.

But as long she's cute, wears a nice dress, well, then it's not too bad.

Basically, yeah. I saw everyone on the first page of comments making a big deal out of the reflection, the angle of the head, and so on and so forth. I can honestly and ashamedly say I didn't notice any of that because I was too busy staring at what a great job you did on the dress. I'm with Erikson on this one.

Interesting tie, to just arbitrarily hang a leg out there. I can imagine that would get uncomfortable after awhile, ha ha ha. I also just noticed how detailed you got on the ropework there. Solid work!

Finally: mirror fetish?

everyone making a big deal out of the reflection
Well, if you make a picture with a mirror the basic idea is to get the reflection correct

Finally: mirror fetish?
Mirror fetish, dress fetish, who knows? Self-mockery fetish, no doubt

True that, true that. I wasn't saying it wasn't important, just that I failed to notice, ha ha ha.

Self mockery fetish indeed, good sir.

Looking at the other comments, it's rapidly turning into the game of finding the seven errors.

GOrgeous, though the reflection of her face looks a bit odd. Maybe move the hair somehow or lighten up the face color.

cordefr In reply to azad-janan21 [2009-09-20 08:46:36 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. Yes, I went a little overboard with the hair colour. I realize there is something odd going on with the face, but I can't pinpoint it exactly.

I think its the shape in relation to the shape of the hair. The outline seems weird.

vantheman9 [2009-09-19 17:18:51 +0000 UTC]

hmmm yes the fabric is over the knee on the girl, in the mirror we can see the knee

and then the face, would probably be more of a profile in the mirror, on observation the two faces are pointed different ways - the girl's chin is over her shoulder while the mirror's chin is at a 45 degree angle, and how are they both looking straight at me? That's impossible AND creepy.

That's impossible AND creepy.
Nothing is impossible, Escher proved that

Thanks for looking thoroughly at the pic. Actually it was rather frustrating, getting things right, and after a while I gave up: I prefer colouring.

but don't you love reflections? you're like me with chains, wanting them and then not being patient enough to get them right

It depends... working on several things at the time helps. If I get bored with one, I jumped to the next.

Nice work with the reflection. Although it's not reflected, I'm glad you included the enlarged flower motif in the upper corner. I think it helps balance the work.

While overall a very nice piece to look at, I'm not quite sure how well I like the reflection of the legs. Her left leg (the one straight down) seems to have fabric going up to it, while the reflected vision has a clear air gap by the leg where there isn't fabric touching the leg. Her bent right leg, is sharply cut off by the lines of the fabric, while it's reflection is fully visible.

Thanks for the extensive comment, I appreciate people looking so closely. Actually it was a very frustrating exercise, and after a while I gave up on getting it exact. I agree about the right leg error, and it would be easy to correct too, I think.
The left leg error, I am less sure about: the air gap of the reflection might be visible in one angle, but not in the other.
