Description
So, I've been working on pages for Skitterpunk Hellsprite in recent weeks and it's a laborious process. The more I do it, the more I try to simplify not only my lines, but my colors. The somewhat recent 4th of July fav.me/d7p7h4t picture was a step in that direction. Here, #3 is the colored version of #1 lines. This is pretty much where I had settled on my "everyday" Skitterpunk lines in recent months, and the colors are fairly common of the simplified colors I've been working toward the last few weeks. # 2 and # 4 take it a step further. I've been studying the old 80's anime cel style I love so much (think Project A-Ko, Bubblegum Crisis and Dirty Pair) and decided to take out most of the inner hair lines. They let the simple shading fill in the details instead of a bunch of complicated lines. Comparing just the lines on, I'd go with #1, hands down, but I find I like #4 colors about the same as # 3 and it would make things a little easier on me during colored pics. EDIT: I've since drawn back in a couple of the inner lines as suggested by dragonariaes . But simple and just a couple. Seems like a good compromise. On the Skitterpunk Hellsprite facebook page www.facebook.com/SkitterpunkHe… I've been showing other pictures and characters where I've been experimenting with simplification, some of which are not up on deviantART, if anybody cares to see that.Related content

I can dig the color work, especially how you took cues from 80s anime on the hair. Those are some of my favorites. Actually Project A Ko was the second anime I've seen. I think on the fourth one the details in her hair and clothes are more pronounced and I like that.

Thanks for the thoughts! I've gotten a fairly positive reaction to # 4, so I'll continue to tinker around with that style for everyday colors.
