I understand why a lot of you guys disapprove of self shipping with fictional characters. Because those characters aren't real, and the act may be considered unhealthy. But let me start by saying this: a lot of self shippers (me included) are very much aware that fictional characters aren't real. We can perfectly distinguish fantasy from reality. Also, a lot of us ship ourselves with fictional characters to cope. For example, I self ship to cope with loneliness and real-life romance issues. It basically helps me feel loved and appreciated. But I also self ship for fun, which others do as well.
You guys make think self shipping is "cringy" or whatever, but guess what? The majority of us are happy with it! And if you're going around saying that those fictional characters don't love us or that we should just stop self shipping altogether, then you're practically saying we shouldn't be happy or have fun, and that's really pathetic and cruel of you. You don’t have to like what we do, but it costs literally nothing to hit the back button and not harass us for it.
Another thing. Not all of us plan to self ship forever. Even my self ships are temporary, I personally plan to continue with it until the “right guy” comes along. Again, one of the main purposes of me self shipping is to cope with romance issues I have irl.
Oh, and one more thing. Cringe culture is dead. Everyone is entitled to their own imagination. Everyone is allowed to have their own fun. :^)
