Looking back, I still don't know exactly why I played alone so much when I was younger, other than the fact I tended to scare off kids my age with the things I would dig up in the dirt patches behind our school. I would unintentionally freak out my mom too, considering she would sometimes find the worms I put in my pockets while doing laundry. Did kindle quite a fascination with biology within me though, so I guess I'm still rather fond of my elementary school memories.Don't really know why I've been thinking about them so much recently though.

ok so i know that the 5 stars on everything seems a little bit ass-kisserish of me but i honestly can't get over this piece, and i can't leave it without a healthy critique.
this piece is so sharp and put together and at the same time it holds just the right amount of unfinished sketchiness, whimsical swirls and carefree brushstrokes to keep the eyes lingering on the piece for just a few seconds longer.
the colors used on this picture are not my favorite colors in the world, which IMO makes it that much more impressive, because you managed to capture so many moods in one with shades that might just come off as dry, desolated, and empty on their own. it's a sense of loneliness mixed with wonder, a sense of warmth in the late summer hues. and a sense of magic in the water which we, the viewers, know to be nothing more than a little puddle. but for the child in love with biology, it may as well be magic.
i'm particularly a fan of the details you threw in here - the child's shape and appearance are clean and sharp without being overly detailed or textured, and like i said before, that blends out into a simpler background. there's more to look at, but the eyes are more closely drawn to the subject.
so very well done, i love love love it!

how about burying every dead bird you find or always looking at the ground for potential stuff to pick up (bearcaps, shoelaces, anything)
