Oooch boy, lovin' the thick lines Sweet colours as well.
Read your badass comic, it's great! I like how it follows on from Saurian Era! But I have to see what happens next of course, don't leave me hanging like this D: You gonna do up a fancy site for it?

Oh no sir. The way I have it worked - Im going to have two more small size ones ready by October for Armageddon in Auckland. One will happen just before this comic, and one just after - nobody ever said starting from the middle was a bad thing, right? If I can pull this off, I will still have a bit over a year in my studio, and pending no other major distractions, will embark on putting together a feature length proper graphic novel story over that time. Yea boy!

Hey corysaur, how much time would you say you spent on colouring this little chap? Do you take a while to decide the colour scheme or just go for it and hope for the best? And is the line work scanned in or is that a brush in flash or photoshop or something that gives you the varying width of the line as it bends and curves around?

I just go for it, but in the back of my mind, different colours represent different traits of the dinos and their personalities, so I'm always trying to incorporate that as well. I started with a quick pencil sketch, it takes a few tries to get the tricky bits figured out, and I prefer to sort the hassley stuff on paper then digitally. And with the lines, its done in photoshop with a tablet, if you have the pen pressure on you can vary the line width as you go, though more often then not, Ill go back and erase a bit and edit the hell out of the lines. Not sure of the hours, um, most of a Sunday, and two evenings of work. Hope that helps!

Nice to see there is some theory going on behind the colours ya choose for your dinos.
Hmmm, I have actually been practicing with the tablet and pen pressure to achieve those line widths but do not get the kind of results I see in your work. Either I'm too heavy handed or my hand just isn't steady enough to pull it off! I guess I just gotta keep practicing with it then until I nut out how to do it properly. When I saw your pic I thought maybe you had a "trick" up your sleeve about how to do it. Haha - wishful thinking! Thanks for getting back to me about it anyway dude!

All good Matt. One other thing is, I have he resolution for the pic up way big, like 4000 by 4000. Then you be having yourself some nice smooth lines. (Though it does just about kill my poor ol comp working at that size!)

Yeah, I can imagine! Well, hopefully our new shiny iMac will be up to the task cos I'm pretty sure my old PC would've choked on that kind of dpi. Haha. Thanks for the tip!
