EDIT: I shortened down the sky a little bit, and got rid of a few clouds. I didn't like how big and round the sky was before.The main thing that my story revolves around and is titled after, Metáo! (pronounced meh-tay-oh)
So Felix and the rest of my characters all live on the back of a giant sea turtle that calmly flies through outer space. Every being on Metáo is immortal, and because their world doesn't need to orbit a star, these characters basically live forever. Metáo is meant to be a paradise.
The reason Metáo was able to grow so big and live for so long is because it needs to be spiritually connected to a planet that can provide life, that chosen planet being Earth. As long as the planet it's connected to is doing well, so too will Metáo.
Metáo's name is a combination of metazoa, a name for the animal kingdom, and Ao, a world turtle from Chinese mythology.

I adore this kind of concept for planets, I've used terraformed animals a few times myself.

What I love most about them (especially ones like this) is that they don't thrive the same way planets do. So there's no worry of them ever dying by a star that's run out of fuel. I hate the fact that stars eventually die, wiping out the planets in their orbit.
What would be your favorite terraformed animal?

What I love best is how they travel and how that could change things on the planet, like how hard it would be to have an idea of time when they have no orbiting star.
My fav would be either Stingrays or anything insectoid. The alien race I made has their home planet as a large Pillbug/shrimp thing.

I like the stingray a lot because it's such an alien looking thing to start with it fits really well while still being familiar.
Insects are great for the same reason. Like, you ever seen a scorprion fly? Things horrifying.

I adore that insect, so much so in fact I have an OC that is a taur of one.

Nah... The true reason for them to be immortal is so that you can make money off of them, forever and ever, if you manage to get a franchise going.
