The "Direct Hit" is an unlockable rocket launcher in Team Fortress 2 that can be obtained from unlocking the "Soldier Milestone 2" achievement.

The stats for this specific rocket launcher lists:
+25% damage bonus.
+80% projectile speed.
+Mini-crits airborne targets launched from explosives.
-70% explosion radius.

According to the stats, the Direct Hit may look like a direct upgrade from the stock Rocket Launcher. Until you look at the explosion radius penalty.

Because of this, you have to be precise and engage your enemy(s) at a distance. However, the increased damage output from the Direct Hit can be a lifesaver from classes such as Scout, Sniper, etc. Or you can just pray to GabeN that you can roll a crocket from this thing.

The one, highly advanced, yet rewarding, attribute of the Direct Hit is that it is able to deal mini-crits to airborne targets that are launched from explosives. This makes it one of the more deadlier Rocket Launchers in the Soldier's arsenal. This also makes the Direct Hit the only way to PROPERLY deal with enemy Soldiers utilizing the Air Strike/B.A.S.E. Jumper combo, as they are airborne thanks to the rocket launcher itself.

Final words: The Direct Hit is a rocket launcher that can only be used to its full potential when put into the right hands. Use the weapon at a distance and only fight with the Direct Hit in close quarters in case of emergencies. The mini-crits against airborne targets launched from explosives is a satisfying, yet challenging, feature of the Direct Hit.
