Secret santa & art gift toIzark, the image & composition might be not special at all, but actually this image isn't the real gift. The real gift is the model itself. It should be in your email now.
I was planning to make some kind like SIC version at beginning but I think there isn't enough time... so I go for the original version instead.
And I think I still don't get the original look of zero's face. I've never succeeded in modeling anime style face anyway, probably I will, later in the future..

Maybe for realism. You see, in original Zero design he shouldn't be able to pull out those in-game fast and crazy moves, theoritically and realisticly, because those limb joints are definitely getting in the way. By supporting it with artificial muscles I think the wimpy zero is more believeable.
But it's your right to like and dislike any character design. It's all about personal taste and style anyway

Iya soalnya rambutnya gak bisa tumbuh lagi, kalo rontok semua botak deh...
Tapi kalo pake ini di max keuntungannya kalo mau animasi, rambutnya bisa gerak2 natural tanpa harus pake susah.

For me, I don't have any soft spot for zero but I admit I've mistaken him for a female in first glance because you know, long hair, two spheres in his chestpiece , until I hear his voice. But well I did beat Rockman X4 about 40 times already? I've actually lost count and I've ever beat sigma without any of X's armor piece, uses only one subtank. That's my best record so far but that's a few years ago, dunno if I still could pull the same trick now.

A start to the personal work? It's amazing! One of my favourite characters, and I think you managed to pull off the anime-style face very well. Any chance of orthographic views/wireframe/ambient occlusion shots? (Just because )
+ Is this the original render size? I think you might benefit from rendering larger and then downsampling, I've noticed a few anti-aliasing issues in some of your images.

It's original size. Hm I dunno how the downsampling could happen since I used full quality JPEG when I save the image... Alright, I'll submit the other shots later today. Hang on

I tend to render twice as large as the presentation size - i find it's an excellent method of increasing the quality of an image. Also, you save renders directly to JPEG? As far as I'm aware, 3ds Max doesn't have very good jpeg compression options... much better to save as a tiff or targa then post-process in photoshop... (assuming you have it, of course). Also, some of your models could benefit from polygon smoothing (I think it's called 'smoothing groups' in max, I don't have a copy here to check unfortunately).

Yeah, smoothing groups, that's right. Works very well with low poly models, but when I used meshsmooth, smoothing groups somewhat virtually have no effect, except maybe if I decide not to smooth the entire model with meshsmooth but that's rarely happening.

by the way kak aku pusing nih... itu kan aku link constraint sebuah objek ke telapak biped.. abis tu pas aku gerakin center of mesh bipednya.. mesh model ikut gerak, tapi bone tangan dari biped itu diam di tempat.. pusing aku.. trus ketika biped tangan itu aku bikin key, sama dia diam di tempat ketika COM aku gerakin.. akh..
apes aku kak... di Medan ternyta krisis energi.. mati lampu dari siang ampe tengah malam!! ga bisa kerja.. mana senin hijriah lagi, TIKI pada tutup!!! gawat, gawat gawat mana kompie lemot..

Kalo nggak gini aja, lu bikin gerakannya dulu, object di link constraint belakangan. Di Max 2008 juga aneh tuh cara link constraint ke bipednya... dulu pas MAX 7 kaga begitu.

Yah cuma 1 1/2 hari kerja.... start 24, malemnya kepotong waktu (ada sodara dateng, harus dilayanin...) gue sempet pusing waktu karakternya jadi kok mukanya kaga mirip zero gitu... ampe kepikiran jangan2 ini not worthy buat art gift, tapi untunglah lu suka berarti kerja (tidak terlalu) keras gue nggak sia-sia

Ketinggalan sih itu dimaklumi aja beda pengalaman soalnya. Bhs jepang gue juga kalah ama lu karena beda pengalaman kok...
