I always found the character in the book to be entirely repulsive, but the version Dwight Frye played is just... augh. I WANT TO HUG HIM AND MAKE IT BETTER. There's just so much more tragedy there when he's this perfectly nice young man that Dracula breaks for his own purposes and kills when he's done with him.

And in spite of the types of parts he tended to play, I kind of think Dwight Frye was, um, a seriously pretty man. Those eyes, my goodness.

i think i like dwight frye and peter macNicol as renfield. peter was in dracula dead and loving it with leslie neilsen. that movie was so halarious!
