Countess Rose is 1/4 changeling, her father's mother is a changeling. She normally is in her changeling form, but when she goes out in public she changes into the earth pony form. Her necklace was given to her by her grandmother and is very special to her. Because of her changeling heritage she doesn't have a cutiemark, but while in her pony form she chooses to have arose as her cutiemark, because they are her favorite flowers.

She lives in a small mountain village northeast of Chanterlot, near Neighagra Falls, and she runs a bookstore. Her changeling heritage is known by her fellow villagers but she still chooses to change her form, as not to cause conflict with travelers who pass through town. Especially after the trouble some changelings caused at the royal wedding. She enjoys reading and hanging out with her close friends. She is wary of ponies she dosen't know, for obvious reasons. She is normally quiet and soft spoken but she can have a short fuse when under stress.
