Description Yeah, not a fantastic title, but that was the theme. I painted this for a spring themed contest, and I think it turned out pretty well. I just really need to learn more about how to backgrounds......

I think I might make the elf-woman/ wood nymph on the side into an OC. You know, give her a name and a story and stuff, so don't steal her design please
Done in Photoshop Cs4, with a Wacom Intuos4

The glowy bit behind the flower is a bit wobbly, and the flower blends in a bit too much. The floating rock that it's on looks pretty cool, though!

The elf to the side is amazing! The hair looks very hairy and realistic, despite the green-ness. The tattoos look great, too!

The facial structure looks accurate and face-like. The ears are fantastic (both in fantasy and in skill sense).

The feather is very well-done. I like the earrings' shading and shape, but they are a bit low and look like they are about to fall off.

Overall, this is an awe-inspiring piece of art and I encourage you to work on more pieces similar to this one.

Beautiful! I love the digital-painting technique you used here!

What you could improve on:

Facial structure (lips from the side, for example),
lighting (the flower is giving off light, but her face doesn't seem affected by it),
the shaping of the flower and land-mass could be improved in shape (the painting seems a little rough edged), and finally the color could be applied a little better.

What I like:

The originality of this piece! I love how beautiful the flower looks and how mesmerized the elf woman is~

I do hope you keep up the great work because you have a lot of talent!

Its great but.... the earring needs more feathers and the face needs more tattoos! still, i think it's really beautiful!!!

The silly thingy says i needs to write 100 words sooooooo, um this will be very strange!
I love the soft lighting technique you've used in this character and I absolutely encourage a back story! To me this character is from a tribe of non magical elves who abhor magic and none of tem have been born with magic for 100 years. But somehow, she/he has magic,(hence the floating flower!). Will she use it for good or bad?

SCAM!!!! TWO WORDS OFF!!!!!! GRRRR!!!! oh, that should do it! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Overall this is a very nice piece at least in my opinion of it. though I did notice a few things. Like the lips are almost at a 3/4 view rather than a side view. It makes the face look awkward and a little off.

Also the hair. You have all of this short strands when you should incorporate longer highlighted strands to give it a more realistic feel and look to the hair. take note of the lighting and the hair and try to fallow the flow of the hair with one strand, (and do multiple strands that way to get a good layered look on the hair.

I you've done a wonderful job of the lighting in this though and I must say that i love that feather earring she is wearing.

Doctor Who references make me happy. (Art is a verb now?)

We can make it a verb. In the same way that to "dance" is a verb. Reinventing the english language, one verb at a time.
