If I told you I found God
Would you wonder where I looked?
Can you see the green of the trees?

The bloody and rusted fairgrounds come to life.
The living and breathing politics slowly rot the air.
The angels in Memphis play the devil’s music.
The nosy bystanders can’t stand the smell.
Introspective mouths are always outside.
Watch as the world turns the wrong way and burns.

The color of your insides is dark and yellow.
Your mouth runs with legs of a marathon man.
Your brain has become ink and paper.
The teeth in your mouth are sharp.
The tongue in your words is a bland canvas.
All I can hear is white noise.
This noise comes without a sound.
Liberating insecurity without a secure connection.

The water’s quite nice.

Our hearts may grow as our minds shrink,
But everything has a happy medium.
The water is blue because of the sky.
What would the sky look like if the ocean were blood?
