Description My first ever attempt at 3D typography. Took about a day and a half. I slept, ate, and dreamed about this thing, but I think I got a hold on in now. I love the process involved, it's very intense (for me)! I'm definitely going to try another later on. This was made based on a tutorial... somewhere. I lost it.

This is part of my nanowrimo project to draw or create something every day for November. This one is both days 2 & 3... and part of 4. Heh! I may create a wallpaper out of this later on.

(For the curious, this contained about 20 layers, and was created in Illustrator, Photoshop CS4 and Gimp. Woo! )

Oh wow, thanks! And it's never too late for a comment like that, silly.

I really enjoyed learning this, so I should go back and apply it some more, especially since design is my major. I guess I keep distracting myself with other things, though. ^^

Oh silly me. I'm new to this so I'm not yet sure whats what. I'll figure it out soon though. Well that's how it is when your'e learning. We tend to jump from one thing to another becasue it's all so exciting. Keep at it. Just be careful ok, you don't wanna be a jack of all trades but master of none

That's really good advice, actually! I like that. I'll attempt to find my focus while work through the photography.

You're doing wonderful!

I am too lazy to write a critique, and I do hope that you forgive me for it. lol
I just wanted to say this definitely caught my eye, and it is quite stunning!

Since I can 't write Critiques anymore...

I think the overall design is almost perfect; however, the tree tends to fade into the background - perhaps you should try it with other colors.

The only other thing I see that seems odd is that for an 'earth'-based idea, a tree seemingly floating in midair is kinda weird. Even if it's not in the ground, the idea needs some sort of 'grounding' effect (pun intended).

Actually, it's interesting you mention that, because I was going to put this into the ground at first, with grass and everything. I didn't, though, because it was getting late and I ran out of time--I'd already worked on it for two days, after all. But I do want to go back to this and I have the PSD saved, so I'll definitely work on the tree more and give it proper ground. Now that I now how to do the hard parts, the rest should be easier.

The one thing I don't like about this method of making trees is the leaves. It's easy, but it doesn't look even remotely realistic (which it should, given the 3D-ness of the letters). I may look for some brushes or something... *ponders*

Thanks!
