Description
don't worry about this entry. yes, its mean to be incomplete and lacking detail. this has nothing to do with the Saga or any of the projects I'm working on. I had this urge to do a fight sequence layout for no other reason, just to give me some practice, and let me get my ideas down on page, before I start doing them for the Saga. it also helps me choreograph how the fights are going to flow, and how I'm going to portray them. they're far from perfect, but its a start.Anyway, a lot of the fights in the Saga, will focus on the realistic portrayals of various martial arts styles, specifically Krav Maga, Keysi Fighting Method, and Muay Thai; even if there will be moments of stylization here and there. I'm not gonna do it over the top like the Dragonball series, Naruto, Bleach and legions of other action animes. as much as I have respect for those animes, I'm not going there with how they do their action sequences.
yes, there will be a shitload of collateral damage and what have you, but the fights will be more varied, and less focusing on the cliches and the typical formulas you see in these anime. I'm looking to do the fights more along the lines of The Matrix Series, The Jason Bourne Movies, the recent reboot of James Bond, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex both seasons, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Ninja Scroll, Cowboy Bebop, Ong-Bak and Ong-Bak 2, Tom-yoong-gyong, and Chocolate. if that's not a useful visual analogy, rent the movies, torrent them or watch them for free online for an idea of what I'm going for.
Anyway, enjoy!!

I heard that it was a mix of Kali and Krav Maga. then again, I heard either or both from like a dozen different sources. realistically, I know Krav Maga takes a lot of elements from Kali, especially with trapping and footwork, among other things. then again, what doesn't Krav Maga absorb, emulate and utilizes? I've got two cousins who do Kali who have trained with guys who do Krav Maga, and they had a blast. they learned a lot from each other. I wish I had gone to that class, but then again, I don't always have the money to travel for such things :{

I teach Kali, MMA and Krav for a living and yes their both fantastic systems, however in the movies that was only Kali ,I didn't see any Krav.

Funny you should ask, I'm getting ready to take a certification test in a few months. It's a Spanish system that has an really original take on self defense, it borrows from several systems and has a very organic flow to it.

Ya know I don't know, there used to be one in Montana but I think it closed. I'm planning on opening one in Colorado in a couple of years or so.

if you want to see an "interesting" fight scene, rent Equilibrium (has Christian bale). towards the end, has a point blank gun fight thats really good.

It was an interesting fight, but my biggest problem with it, even though I had to suspend my disbelief for it; was the fact they were firing off their guns when they were doing chi sau at point blank range. I know its a fictional setting, but damn, that's a great way to lose your hearing

they would also get some muzzle burns. but since one of your characters could dodge point blank shots, i thought of that.

my brother is very into MMA, so i got a little knowledge. Brazilian Juijitsu might be useful. applied quickly, you just end up breaking joints and crushing their throats. judo is a also very useful. basic, but when you got a person on their back, you have a lot of options (flee, pull weapon, whatever).
