Description
Picture done by sicarius8.deviantart.com/I love Hungarian,Hindu and Japanese cultures and histories and this is a picture I commissioned that I love looking at, with the elegant sight of Akita castle in the background and the Beautiful Yabusame horsewoman amongst the trees it just shows some of the things I love about Japanese culture.
Th Yabusame get their origins after the start of the Kamakura period in Japan around the 1200s when the 1st shogun grew concerned with his samurai's lack of archery skills.
So in order for them to practice and perfect their skills at using the bow he created the Yabusame as a form of sport or ritual where the samurai horsemen would ride down a a track at high speed and shoot his/her bow at targets. They would control the horse with their knees.
the practice began to die out a little when armies like the Portuguese brought gunpowder into battle agaist the Japanese in the late 1500s but it had a resurgence at a later time during peace and is still practiced today by men and women who have had the chance to display their amazing skills to people like the president of the United States and even British royalty.
